I think this will go to the Supreme Court. The state court ignored voters' wishes in an initiative. We may need a constitutional amendment preventing gay marriage.

The Supreme Court did not ignore the voters; they ruled the law was unconstitutional. That is the courts' job...that is what they are here for. Adding an amendment to the constitution would be writing discrimination into a document that is supposed to protect us all as equal. When you start to degrade the very reason for the constitution (both CA and US), you start down a very dangerous and slippery road. A constitutional amendment would be wrong, our laws and constitution are supposed to protect us, not exclude us…this goes for every citizen. Being gay or straight doesn’t matter; we are all protected by our constitution and laws, not just the people you agree with. When you start to restrict the right of others, you put your own rights in jeopardy.

No one is asking to take away "Holy Matrimony" from the churches but "marriage" and the thousands of earthly, civil and governmental benifits that go this legal institution should be available to all adults especially when all have to subsidize the churches through tax benefits.
