The robbery episode in Pacific Grove by the three DLI students has Prescott Hill residents concerned. They reside near the DLI gate on Taylor and have been witness to many bizzare incidents and city violations. They have been abused both by DLI students, gate guards and officers. The recent robbery of a couple on the rec trail in Monterey by, again, three men, has residents even more concerned. The information on this attack is minimal. Perhaps the lack of idenity on the perpetrators is to protect the victims, but residents wonder if it is to protect the criminals. What residents are asking is...could these perpetrators be DLI students as well? Is this why their idenity is being hidden? It is a well-known fact that ex mayor Dan and present City Manager, Fred are very protective of the military and to the detriment of residents safety. So could the perpetrators be DLI students? Who can uncover this information so that residents could take protective measures or ease their anxiety if the perpritrators are not DLI connected? Residents have commented on the fact that since the robbery was committed in PG and it was on the PG Police Dept to catch the criminals, they did not hesitate to catch them and arrest them. The crime in Monterey, on the rec trail, on the other hand is shrouded in mystery.

Anyone care to comment or clear the air on this situation?

I think they did it! That Lee character just looks like a bad guy! Just look at his picture, he's a born killer. He should get life! I bet the other two didn't even know he was doing it, and they just happened to be with him.

Well, well, well... so three students from DLI not only robbed somebody in PG and in Monterey huh? Ain't dat a bitch?!? So umm... has anybody heard that those three students were wrongfully accused and was all over the news for no reason? Have you heard about people are quick to blame somebody and degrade his character over t.v. and after they find out it wasn't them there's no apology at all? Yeah... people don't like saying "excuse me. but i messed up and i apologize" on national t.v. huh? I hope those people sue them or something. I feel like that was wrong.

shut the pfuck up "nate clemons" if thats even your real name, you have no idea what you are talking about, that lee charater is a bad apple, and you know it you negro-lover. and another thing, we all know that he did it and somehow got rid of the evidence and then 2 days later robbed that couple on the rec trail when they were "supposedly" in jail. The tv said so...

Wow Zaicheck... are you 14 or something? You don't belong on this site. Also, I doubt it was DLI students, we stand WAY too much to lose for something that stupid. The military invests far too much money in us and gives us too much opportunity to just throw it all away like that.

You know, Atrox, not all DLI students go to class on time and stay out of trouble. But on the whole, DLI students are far less likely to get into this kind of trouble than the average civilian. I'm sure you've seen it all around you, though: Students saying stuff like "Dude, I hate this place," "I didn't want this job," and then failing out on purpose to reclass into a "better" career field or just separate due to BOC clause. Though I do wonder why we don't hear more stories about DLI students being victimized (like the Army guy who got jumped outside Taco Bell just down the street and ended up in a coma a couple of years ago) rather than stories about them victimizing others. Media bias? Perhaps.

Your remark, though, is pretty much true for the vast majority of the students who populate the post. DLI students are different than the civilians, and even different from the rest of the military, and if someone like this from DLI committed a crime of this magnitude, then he shouldn't have been a DLI student to begin with.
The blame here falls on basic training staff for pushing people who clearly don't deserve to be representing our country through the basic training program just meet quotas and standards (I'm talking to YOU, Lackland), and not DLI staff, who have a hard enough time keeping tabs on over 3,000 rowdy (but good-natured) young men and women.

But we'll just see what the investigation turns up in the meantime.

Nevermind the fact that the number of gangs around DLI are increasing. At least 6 students have been badly beaten up and/or robbed in "gang initiations". Did you know that no one is doing anything to increase security around those areas? How about someone do something about the real problems and stop trying to make things up just because your not happy with the current state of things?

The MPs of the DLI used to threaten to beat up me and my buddy lots of times when I was a kid. And we used to egg them from across the gate in New Mntry.:) Or PG.. whatever..

So what?? They were no different than we were. That was in the 70's. The students were no better or worse or moral or lawful than the civilians. Why is this a story? Theyre just a bunch of kids that "Learn Russian so you won't have to" :)
Is that sign still up there?

I don't know if the students were involved or not but commenting on what Atrox said "I doubt it was DLI students, we stand WAY too much to lose for something that stupid. The military invests far too much money in us and gives us too much opportunity to just throw it all away like that" ... are you aware of the stabbing by two students on the rec trail in PG back in '98, two students left a woman there to die after their brutal attack.
We can't dismiss students of DLI and assume innocence based on the fact that they are SUPPOSED to be above that.
