Interesting possibility.

Frijoles and Matt - thanks for finally jumping in. I thought I was on a lone crusade to educate the unenlightened ;-)
I've been bewildered starting with my first day ever on this forum and the mathematics and evolution and archeology portals to name a few.(Archeology is near death).
So i treat it like some general american trait with the obvious exceptions.
Though when it comes to fundies there is no educating, nevermind where they come from.

I usually though judge people by the willingness to learn, regardless the age or what level of formal education they had.
Afterall i'm still learning everyday.

In case HB missed it:
In late 2009, the journal Radiocarbon announced agreement on the INTCAL09 standard, which extends a more accurate calibration curve to 50,000 years.[23][24] The results of research on varves in Lake Suigetsu, Japan, which was announced in 2012, realised this aim. "In most cases, the radiocarbon levels deduced from marine and other records have not been too far wrong. However, having a truly terrestrial record gives us better resolution and confidence in radiocarbon dating," said Bronk Ramsey. "It also allows us to look at the differences between the atmosphere and oceans and study the implications for our understanding of the marine environment as part of the global carbon cycle."[25]

You still sound like you have no understanding of what science is, or how science works.
I'll give it a try.
Science does not work with the notion of "correct" - it looks at competing explanations and selects the best (i.e. most likely) based on an analysis of data (i.e. evidence) and than couches their conclusions in terms of probibility (i.e. estimates how likely their explanation fits the data).
In science one is not only always seeking data driven explanations, but refining those explanations. Its the "refining process" that you are alluding to when you say that science is always contradicting itself, or that science is correcting itself.
Its not an either/or. Its a question of best, with a statistical qualification.
Bible thumpers who grow up with rigid either/or categorical modes of thinking have a problem with this notion. They tend to be hung up on binary categories - correct/wrong, with the bible as the process to provde the standard, not data driven analytical analysis
For Creationism to be a valid scientific construct, it should be 1) data driven,
2) hypothesis tested, and
3) statistically qualified.
As far as I am aware, in the broad sense, Creationism has never been able to withstand these processes. Therefore, Creationism is an ideology, not a scientific discipline.
If you want to teach ideology(religion) along side with science in schools, than that is certainly your right in a private school. But dont call Creationism science, because it isnt. Intelligent Design is not science, it is junk science, for the reasons expounded above in the previous paragraph.

Gun Confiscation Bill
Introduced in Congress
IRS credit to citizens who allow
government to confiscate their firearms
Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
January 17, 2013
On January 13, 2013, H.R. 226 was
introduced in the House of
Representatives by Connecticut Democrat
Rep. Rosa DeLauro. The bill will amend
the 1986 IRS code and allow a credit if
taxpayers surrender their guns to the
government.
Cited as the Support Assault
Firearms Elimination and
Reduction for our Streets Act,
the proposed legislation
represents another effort to
convince citizens that they must
voluntarily turn in their guns as a
civic duty and to do their part to
reduce gun violence and
protect children, as Obama said
yesterday.
The bill is yet more evidence that
federal and state governments are
now pulling out all stops short of
door-to-door confiscation in their
coordinated effort to disarm the
American people.
Strikingly honest language
included in the legislation
specifies that the bill is part of the
governments program to reduce the
number of privately owned weapons, in
short, a program to disarm the American
people.
The bill contains an exhaustive list of so-
called assault weapons that will garner
a $2,000 tax credit, including the much
demonized Bushmaster AR-15 allegedly
used in the Newtown Sandy Hook
massacre.
The bill was referred to the Committee on
Ways and Means on January 14, 2013.
American taxpayers must reject such
cynical enticements and stand together
and support the Second Amendment
against all attacks by Obama and
Congress.
The latest foray against the Second
Amendment and the founding principles
of the republic commenced soon after the
Sandy Hook incident on December 15
when California Democrat senator Dianne
Feinstein exploited the tragedy to call for
an attack on Americas gun culture.
I hope and trust that in the next session
of Congress there will be sustained and
thoughtful debate about Americas gun
culture and our responsibility to prevent
more loss of life, Feinstein said.I will
do another assault weapons ban.
New York governor Andrew Cuomo
jumped on the anti-Second Amendment
bandwagon a few days later, on December
21, and proposed gun confiscation in the
state.Confiscation could be an option.
Mandatory sale to the state could be an
option, Cuomo said. He was egged on by
notorious gun-grabber advocate and New
York City mayor Michael Bloomberg who
also demanded Obama use
unconstitutional executive actions against
the Second Amendment.
On December 30, Feinstein said America
needs to bite the bullet and restrict the
gun rights of Americans following
comments by president Obama that he
would support draconian legislation
aimed at the Second Amendment.
Over the next two weeks, the
establishment media launched an intense
anti-Second Amendment campaign and
produced corporate polls in favor of
common sense gun bans. Alex Jones
appeared on the Piers Morgan Show and a
flurry of pro and con pundits and
commentators debated the finer points of
stripping Americans of their right to own
firearms.
On December 16, Obama and Joe Biden
went on national television accompanied
by a gaggle of children and pushed the
federal governments anti-Second
Amendment agenda. Obama brazenly
signed a number of unconstitutional
executive actions during the performance
instructing the government to roll back
the Second Amendment.

Giving a short on evolution.
That question annoyed me today, but that had more to do with the posters that asked it since we had been over that on all levels.

4 Bya single cell creatures
2 Bya cells with nuclei
2.3 Bya multicellular organisms
2.5 Bya diversity, explosion of life
300 Mya largeplants, animals, complex creatures,'dinosaurs'.
4 Mya upright ape
2 Mya early human ancestors

It's a rough timeline and approximation, of life adapting towards more complexity in emergent and convergent ways, what tried and true evolves over and over again in various forms (e.g. eyes, parasitism)
Through competition (predation and protection) and symbiosis with many extinction events not mentioned. And i did not start with the way first cellwalls might have most probably started nor with the first trick of getting aminoacids.

Another way of looking at it:
24 hours ago onecelled
12 hours multicelled
1 hour dinosaurs
40 seconds men
less than one second ago modern men

I'm sure I'm biased becouse of my faith, if I'm not I don't have very much faith. We are all biased becouse of our beliefs.
There is only one thing since time began that has never been disproved (given enough time). That is the bible. Scientist say the earth is billions of years old. I believe they are wrong. One method they have used is radiocarbom 14 or 14 c, however you want to look at it. They claimed they could date the earth with this method at millions of years. It has been proven that 14 c is only accurate to thousands of years. It is funny to me that when one way gets disproved, then they (the scoentist) have to find a new way to try to disprove the bible. There is only one constant -the bible says what it says, never changing. It doesn't have to change. Science on the other hand seems to always change to fit the newest "scientists " theory.
NO! Not one scientist has EVER claimed to use carbon-14 to date the age of the Earth. That is a foolish caricature. Radiometric dating is ONE of the methods used to prove that the Earth is billions of years old, but it does not use C-14 for this. They use various other radioactive materials with known half-lives to make the determination.

And of course science changes over time. That is its strength. As we learn new facts and find new evidence, we modify science to better conform to the real world that is being described.

Yes, the Bible says what it says without changing, and that is one of its flaws. We now know that the world is not flat. We now know that rain does not require some sky fairy to open up a window in the clouds. We now know that the Moon does not give off its own light, that it only reflects Sunlight. And in spite of the claim made in Genesis 2, there were no humans around when the very first animals appeared.

Unfortunately, it's not just the uneducated. There are a host of educated people that choose to remain willfully ignorant.
Here's a quote from House representative Paul Broun (R-GA) who is <gasp> a current member of the House Science Committee:
"All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the Big Bang Theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell. And its lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior."
What makes you think that he is educated in any way, shape or form?
