Played at the surrender at Yorktown PA in 1781:

YANKEE DOODLE

Yankee Doodle went to town,
A-riding on a pony,
He stuck a feather in his hat
And called it macaroni.

(CHORUS) Yankee Doodle, keep it up,
Yankee Doodle dandy,
Mind the music and the step,
And with the girls be handy.

Father and I went down to camp,
Along with Captain Goodin',
And there we see the men and boys
As thick as hasty puddin'.

(CHORUS)

And there was Gen'ral Washington,
Upon a slapping stallion,
A-giving orders to his men-
I guess there was a million.

(CHORUS)

A long war then was fought and won:
The British were defeated,
And Yankee Doodle was the march
To which their troops retreated.

(CHORUS)

Yes, I am a citizen of the US and proud to therefore be a Yankee. When my Dad fought in WWII, they were hailed by the locals as Yankees.
But, please note that the word citizen means more than resident.
Very good Eric and YOU are still a Jew and that will NEVER change.

For ever and ever.[Can't keep a country whole before there is a country Hugh.] The word was coined by the British to designate the colonists who were making waves. It was followed quickly by acts of insurrection, and then by a declaration of a new country.
Therefore, it's more special than a word that means inhabitant. For example, the word Jamaican was used for hundreds of years to mean an inhabitant of an island because there was no country of Jamaica until 50 years ago.
Eric---Can't keep a country whole before there is a country Hugh

Your analogy is faulty. Once I become a citizen of another country and denounce my US citizenship, I cease to be a US citizen.

The same can be said of being a Jew.

My fault - I originally said I was but you wasnt (since you are in the Midwest). The thing is, it is a relative term. It can mean WASP, New Englander, Northerner, or American, etc etc depending on usage. In my case, naturally I was referring to Mark Twains "CT Yankee (in King Arthurs Court)" term.

I have no idea what that subtle shift was. I was under the impression this has always been the US policy. I can personally remember former presidents being against some of the settlements.
As per the capital - it doesnt matter what the plank is. What matters is what the State Dept does. There was a recent court case which ( that empowered the state dept to do as it pleases despite the fact that US law requires the US to recognize Jerusalem.

"....At issue is whether Congress overstepped its authority when it passed a law in 2002 requiring that Americans born in Jerusalem be allowed to name Israel as their birthplace in passports and other official documents.
The State Department has refused to enforce the law, saying that it interferes with a matter of foreign policy that is the presidentís to decide..."
Stupid question:

Where does the president say that Americans born in Jerusalem were born? For the record that is.

please explain to me the process by which someone can effectively denounce his BIOLOGY and it makes a difference to the reality.

BIOLOGY is not a membership CLUB like RELIGION.

Tell me, when a person DENOUNCES his LINEAGE, does it CHANGE it? Does it change who is father is, or granfather etc.?

Listen well, my boy, I WOULD NEVER say such a thing. That type of talking and mind-set belongs to perverts like you and Frijoles. Now look at the TRUTH or history below. Are you capable of following the sequence? I know that it will be difficult but try.

Frojoles' post 44443 or the start of it. The post was to another poster.
"When Hughbe has sex with his donkey, he might feel guilty the next morning when he does the walk of shame from the paddock back to his house, but the actual "spiritual" consequences are impossible to verify.
But if you dont pay your taxes, or forget to shovel your front sidewalk after a snow storm, or forget to return your library book, then the potential consequences are real"
My response 44449
Frijoles---When Hughbe has sex with his donkey
HughBe--- I shall speak FACTUALLY and not in a joking manner. YOU and your rabbis are FAR closer to having sex with donkeys than I am.
WHY?
I CLEAVE to the commandments of God and I don't seek to TWIST and justify perverted sexual practices. Both you and a significant number of your rabbis JUSTFY homosexuality. I believe ALL of them teach that there is no command against lesbianism.
Based on these FACTS both of YOU are far closer to screwing donkeys than I am. In fact I am not even close.

Again, I refer you back to your own words:

"HughBe--- I shall speak FACTUALLY and not in a joking manner. YOU and your rabbis are FAR closer to having sex with donkeys than I am."

I personlly would never indicate how close I was to fxking a donkey versus how close someone else is as the thought of it would never enter my mind.

Then again, there is no availability of those animals where I live.

I imagine in your neigborhood, they prance around and drive you to distraction.

They can't help it though, if you find them attractive. I'm sure they have no idea what effect they have on you, until it's too late!

Yes,dunces excelled there not here. I am not joking. People who did not do well at the secondary level did well in the US. Even in terms of the University, many who left here went to American universities because they could not get into OUR university.
I believe that things have changed but this was certainly very true for the 70's and before. In any event the brightest as a group remain here.
Rich powerful people from all over the world send their kids to be educated here.

I've never heard that about Jamaica.

Please educate me and provide sources to back up your claims.
