RiccardoFire wrote: <quoted text>BS...of course it's better then smoking cigarettes, but smoking anything is not good for you. Most people that smoke pot are not occasional and also breath deep holding it in. A lot of those tests you read are not done like that. Check out what the medical field says and not what the advocates say. Because of the lower blood pressure and higher heart rate, researchers found that users' risk for a heart attack is four times higher within the first hour after smoking marijuana, compared to their general risk of heart attack when not smoking. How many people are having heart attacks because of pot but never reported? Marijuana contains more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco smoke and because marijuana smokers typically inhale deeper and hold the smoke in their lungs longer than tobacco smokers, their lungs are exposed to those carcinogenic properties longer, when smoking. Research indicates that THC impairs the body's immune system from fighting disease, which can cause a wide variety of health problems. One study found that marijuana actually inhibited the disease-preventing actions of key immune cells. Another study found that THC increased the risk of developing bacterial infections and tumors. Several studies have found that children born to mothers who used marijuana during pregnancy exhibit some problems with neurological development. According to those studies, prenatal marijuana exposure can cause: Altered responses to visual stimuli Increased tremulousness Problems with sustained attention and memory I wonder why the poor people that smoke pot have so many kids with add? Give the references. Up to now, all papers mentioning problems were based on lack of statistical coherence, or pure speculation based on in vitro in vivo extrapolation. I do accept that smoking anything is not recommendable during pregnancy. Nothing here to justify illegality of pot. Anyway, making a drug illegal augments its consumption, in all cases (with dangerous or non dangerous products).

Mr Anderson As they have not yet had their ultra-right wing candidate yet, I don’t expect them to learn until they do. Honestly Until they get someone like Rick Santorum ( who of course will go down in flames in the general election ) I don’t think the far right will actually take stock of the situation. The GOP is in a tough spot, a large section of their party hates other large groups of people, Minorities ( all of them usually ), women ( subservient sex ), Immigrants ( even legal ones ), and... drum roll.... Liberals ( who are a majority of Americans ), anyone of a religion other than some particular religion. How do they start reaching out, with out a large segment of their base abandoning them? to be honest... I have no idea how they will do this. But I don’t think they will face their crisis yet, I think they will lurch right one more time, and actually run a right wing religious nut job and have him go down in a landslide before they actually face their situation.

Not too many people middle age know what condition their heart is, a heart attack can sneak up on anyone. Why take the chance? It's not worth it.

I hope the 2 states will be able to go through with making it legal, it will be a good chance to see how it works. I too think it should be legal. I'm just saying, like drinking booze, it has it's risks. It won't save the world.

I agree, they will be interesting test beds the older I get ( I wish I would stop that ) the less I drink ( although I have been enjoying a nightcap lately ) and I have no interest whatsoever in pot. This is going to be interesting to watch

That is a slippery slope, what if we raise taxes only on lower income registered republicans that vote for tax breaks for people that make over $500,000 a year, to make up for the loss?

If you offer nothing in the way of success- you leave the world no choice but to deal with you according failures. You couldn't find this lesson is scripture? (put that in your pipe and smoke it.)

I kinda already have a feeling about what is going to happen. people are going to try to enjoy themsleves......and this will start a huge war with the social conservatives....yet there will be nothing they can do. and it will obviously bring down the feds. for comleatly different reasons. the feds want to eradicate it, not because it is immoral somehow to smoke gifts from god? but because it represents a threat to the bottome line of other sectors of the economy.... ps: I stopped doing bongsloads back in 99'
