Group a hedge against suicide

When Nicole Valadao enrolled at CSU Monterey Bay in 2008, she had recently come out as gay and was worried what people would think.

The LBGT farce is no different than schizophrenia or alcoholism. It's a genetic malfuntion that can be controlled or cured.

Research by reputable scientists has shown that people inclined to make homophobic comments are most likely self-loathing homosexuals (even if you do pull the bible card). This is true for the bullies that harass LGBT teens and it is true for the bullies leaving comments at the end of an article in the Herald. To "moral word" and "Won Hung Lo": You clearly have some fascination with the LGBT world or you wouldn't have read the article. Be as brave as Ms. Valadao and accept your own homosexual feelings and move on. The fact that you took the time to leave these (absurd) comments shows that you are desperately grasping at any put down your simple minds will conjure. We see through your efforts to deflect attention away from yourselves. Reasonable people condemn your comments, and feel sad for you self-loathing.

When a person is on the front page of the Monterey Herald talking about their "sexuality" It becomes the everyone's business. Yet another naive college student used by the left's money and propaganda machine.

Then you link to an abstract of a non-peer reviewed study done on a sample of 60 people? Guess that's all the proof needed by the Professional Homosexuals.

Obviously not every homophobic douche is gay. Most of them are just really stupid and immature, but there is definitely a pattern and it definitely repeats itself. Ted Haggard, Larry Craig, Eddie Long, George Rekers, all of them are extremely homophobic and all of them have been busted having gay sex. Those are just the ones I know off the top of my head. I'm sure there are countless others.

Then you see a study like that and it really makes you question the sexuality of homophobes. I mean, it's kind of the perfect cover for someone who is insecure with their sexuality, isn't it? Act like you totally hate gay people so no one thinks that you're gay.

One more hint, because I suspect you are ill equipped to see the difference - any "scientific" organization, like the American College of Pediatricians (ACP) or the National Association for research and Treatment of Homosexuality (NARTH) that uses words like "moral" or "God" when presenting their so called "facts," isn't really scientific at all. They are just an attempt to hoodwink ignorant and uneducated dupes into thinking they know what they are talking about so their ultimate agenda is achieved. Stay away from them unless you want to be duped as well.

Somehow, I think you've missed the point. This is a newspaper article reporting on the recent suicides of troubled teens and young adults. Regardless of their sexual preference, these human beings feel left out and confused and need guidance, not judgement. The fact that anyone would take the time to post hateful comments on an article geared for showing young adults, who often find themselves bullied and judged, that there is a safe place to feel welcomed only reiterates the meaning behind Jane Lee's words.

By judging those who are gay, lesbian. bisexual or transgender, you are only fueling discrimination on all fronts. Showing that it is okay to put down certain groups, races, or genders etc. What you are saying is this: All are created equal, but some are more equal than others.

We are all human beings, we all deserve the right to live a happy life. No matter our gender, sexual orientation, race, background.

In the future, before you make an ill-conceived judgment towards another human being - who has in no way affected your own right to happiness - think about your own life, and how you would feel if you were being attacked for something you had no control over - or better yet, imagine a loved one.

Imagine your mother, father, sibling, son, or daughter being bullied, attacked, or even killed for the person they are. it would be heartbreaking.

Did you even read the article? She is trying to speak out against bullying and suicides because there has been an increase in suicides over the last few months for LGBT youth. She is being extremely brave and putting herself out there to show people that it does get better and that there are support systems out there, such as Out and About, that can help people through a tough time. Why don't you educate yourself a little more before spewing such hate about someone that you don't even know.
