We lost those checks and balances when the GOP passed a resolution no longer allowing anyone but the speaker to bring something to a vote, the house is now being held hostage by a minority. Fortunately we have the Senate and the POTUS to quash them.
I like checks and balances to, that is why I will never vote for a so-called "conservative" republican, as they are opposed to checks and balances.
Tear down these Barry-cades. Believe it or not, Obama's popularity ratings are in the toilet. They're the lowest they've ever been, and I can tell you the reason. Obama made one critical error: His meanness came through. His inner Grinch came out. When he closed the National Mall to the World War II vets and, too, the Vietnam [memorial], it spread through the country like a prairie fire. Then he opened it up to the illegals and their supporters. The people hate him. They don't like what he's doing to this country. They don't like that he's shutting the government down. Never mind what the fools in the media are trying to tell you. The average person knows Obama is behind this. Oh, that's right, you are below average!

Only 17% is shutdown, who cares, are you still getting your stamps? It shows we are fine with a smaller Government, the Tea Party is right! It's not the first time it's taken place, quit crying, get in a food line. LOL

Although President Obama claims that he canít avoid shutting down public sites and monuments, war memorials were in fact kept open during the 1995/1996 government shutdowns. The administrationís decision to barricade the Lincoln Memorial marks the first time in its history the memorial has been totally off limits to visitors during a shutdown.

The administration has also balked at efforts by non-governmental groups to maintain access to public sites.

Obama has more cops on duty keeping people out of the memorials than there are during normal operations. What I am saying boys and girls is that he is spending more money to keep them closed than when they are open.

If he "has no choice" Why could Clinton keep them open?

Hopefully congress will re-open them this week, Obama does not have that power, Congress does.

If you think Obama's numbers are down, take a look at the GOP numbers.

I suggest next time if they want to be taken seriously as terrorists they should threaten to fly a plane load of Tea Baggers into the ground if they donít defund Obamacare....( chuckle )

The free stuff card system went down on the weekend so retailers couldn't access the freeloaders' accounts to see how much of our money was still on each moocher's card.

Some stores like the evil Walmart trusted these mooches to have money in their free stuff accounts and let them make purchases. Of course many of them didn't have much money or have a balance at all. The retailers get burned.

And the moral of this story is the moochers get even more free stuff. The hard working taxpayers get the shaft. Ah socialism!

I suggest you calm down and work together to end this. Proposing terrorism is the last thing we need. Do you really want to kill the other party? Is that your idea of the USA?

Long ago, serving in Congress was not a career, it was more a duty or service to the country, much like being in the military.
When you have members of congress, with 30,40 50 years or more, they wield far to much power. They Chair to many committees and only serve their well being. No new blood, no new ideas. Just more of the same that is not working.
You should run Jizzy. I might even vote for your sillyass as a goof. You couldn't do much worse than the present set of clowns we have now.

The Constitution is child proof. So far.

There is nothing to work together on, Congress has the power to shut down and re-start the government ( and open the memorials as Ricardo wants ), and the power to raise the debt ceiling.

Once they do so, then can work on issues, but no one should negotiate with anyone while under threat.

They can do their job, hopefully they will decide to, otherwise it is just a bunch of guys on high paid government relief by taking up desk space.( shrug )

The Glendora, California city staff and the city council can't figure out how to have a meeting without a consultant or consultants.

That's pretty bad.

How much does the consultant's/facilitator's cost the tax payers of Glendora, California?

Here is where I will disagree Poof, term limits are a joke, all it does is take away the peoples power to vote for whoever they want too.

Whenever you hear anyone talking about term limits ( usually the minority party in the house be it GOP or DEM ) it is all about the representatives in someone elseís district

Shutdown leader Ted Cruz is the presidential frontrunner among the most dominant faction of the Republican base.

This is not your fatherís GOP.

This Republican Party is holding our economy and the wellbeing of countless Americans hostage to its extreme demands with tactics that economists agree could bring down the world economy, and that could wreak havoc on the future of our democracy unless they are thoroughly rejected by voters.
