The common man would call a sphere a ball.
No one would ever say: "Throw me that circle". Nor, "Roll me that circle".
And it looks like the Hebrews way back when did have words for both, and used both in the bibble.
Here's a nice explanation for you (I'm sure you'll ignore it):

And what about Christopher Columbus? How come he assumed it was a sphere, not a circle? He must be very stupid for a sailor mustn't he in your book?

Didn't think it through did you, idiotic brat? While my mind is significantly more complex, in your stupid youth you are asking questions to yourself such as, "Is it wrong to do this?", "what is life about?", "why am I so loney", "am I weird"? I grew out of those questions, but you're too young to understand why they are so futile!
How many people do you hear saying, "Pass me the sphere"? SO STUPID!

about as many people as you hear 'pass me the circle', dud.

perhaps a better question for you for you to ponder is "why am i so loony?"

stop fooling yourself...your thoughts aren't complex, only the physical structure of your brain is complex, nothing held within that brain of yours is complex. you can't even grasp teh vast differences between "circle" and "sphere".

he proved you wrong - the hebrews had words for both circle and sphere and understood that concept. yes, even the common man. seems that even in ancient biblical times they were ahead of you dud.

Christopher Columbus had the advantage of living in the cradles of science during the renaissance, Italy and Spain.

The Greeks had known the earth was round. The Muslims (especially the Moors in Spain) knew the earth was round, having continued the study of math and sciences during the dark ages. Even the upper heirachy of the Church knew the earth was round. But the Church just chose to not share this with the common man, opting to adhere to the "sacred word" as the official position by the Church.

Of course, the bibble never states the world is a sphere, just that it is round, like a circle, a two-dimensional object. Further enforcing that it is a flat circle in Job 38:14 ”The earth takes shape like clay under a seal.”

I don't know how you seal your letters, but the impression in the wax leaves a flat disc, not a round blob.

Actually, he believed only from the bible that it was round, like a globe, nowhere else.

Technically the Bible never says 'flat'.
Which brings up the earlier assertion about 'four corners'
Here is a easy explanation of the Hebrew word and the options that were available;

A Christian site isn't interested in Hebrew?
I saw a picture of you! You look exactly like Candy Crowley, blonde hair, mustache and everything...

At this point, only your ignorance supersedes your bigotry.

What you still have not done is explain 'four corners', which exposes you are a Jew in ancestry only. A blonde one with a mustache to boot.

Really. How does that assertion explain the divorce rate.
However, it wasn't my point.
What is government interest in giving special rights to only certain friendships with a select number?
Smile.
<quoted text>
You didn't answer my questions.
1. What prevailing interest does the government have in granting rights and benefits to friendships?
2. On what basis does it limit those rights and benefits to only couples of any gender?
:-)

1. the discussion in court doesn't involve "friendships" and has not been brought before the court. there is no answer.
2. please explain your question a bit more fully.
thanks.
1. I'm not referring to any court case. I'm asking what prevailing interest the government has in supporting and protecting friendships?

2. If the government extends support and protection to married couples and gay couples on the basis of friendship, what right does it have to limit it to only those types of friendships and two people?

sorry, i'm short on time right now so i'll be vrey brief.

1. if you're not referring to a court case, then there is no point in discussing as it is not a question before the court. the cases proceeding deal with Prop 8 and DOMA - and they are regarding same sex marriage, not friendship. stick to the topic.
2. friendship is not at question. legal marriage / legal binding contracts is the subject and the crux. stay on point here and focus. marriage, legally speaking, is a legally binding contract between two people.
