I'm sure mother and father Big Bucks will make this story go away. I'm sure the driver won't be charged.

WHY was an 18-year old kid out driving around Pebble Beach at 2:50 AM in a new 2009 Hyundai Sonata with another minor as a passenger? WHERE was Richard Yant III (presumably the father) when he allowed his son out so late/early? Both deserve to be arrested.

If it isn't the Monterey County illegal aliens, or their gang banger anchor babies wasting resources and costing the taxpayers money, it's the beyond stupid spoiled peninsula brats.

Oh well, no need for brat boy to worry, daddy will save him from doing jail time, get his record esponged, and of course, will buy brat boy another new vehicle to crash for his next drunken late night excursion.

LOL! Is "brat boy's" Daddy (presumably Richard Yant III) a wealthy big-wig in P.G. or Pebble Beach? Fortunately, I'm not familiar with the name, even though I've lived on the Peninsula for 45 years. Another Ron Pollaci????

Perhaps if the parents were more concerned/caring about their child, this ridiculous incident would NEVER have occurred. Again, I ask the question "why was an 18 year old minor driving around Pebble Beach (with a teenage passenger) at 2:50 AM intoxicated and apparently speeding"??? Where were the parents? I hope the kids were SCARED TO DEATH and learned a lesson about taking responsibility for their actions.

This story has little to do with my tax dollars being wasted on searching for a young man and everything to do with parents being decent role models for their children.

Your assumptions/justifications of their actions/in-actions, are hilarious !
Okay, let's say they are not spoiled brats.
However, in regards to what was stated in the news article, they certainly are guilty of at least being "stupid" brats !
LMAO
NOT "spoiled brats" but merely "stoopid"? How about both? LOL.

DUI doesn't mean anything to you? How many other people were they endangering?

you all should just shut up. get a life and stop judging other peoples. dont any of you have a job you should be at right now? its just pathetic. Richard Yant the 4th is 18, meaning he is NOT a minor. Stop blaming the father of the ADULT 18-year old for his sons actions. You people are reduculous.

Well you must read people's minds. He is not a "brat boy". He has a job His Daddy won't save him. He is on his own taking all the blows that life has for lessons to be learned. Perhaps he will use this lesson to prevent another teen from doing the same thing. His life was spared for a good reason. What is your reason for being alive? You were the perfect teen and nothing ever happen?

He's 18 doesn't live with Daddy. Did you live with your Daddy when you were an adult? Get a life and quit being judgemental. You don't know him or what he is up against. You must have been perfect when you were his age? He should of been dead. He and his passenger were spared for a reason. Maybe to be a spokesperson for drinking and driving. We are all given new reasons to put forth into actions. What is your reason to be here to be little people you don't know?

As a teen, I wasn't a drunko irresponsible slime ball that put my friends life at risk by driving drunk and crashing my vehicle into the ocean.

Nothing negative ever happened to me because I was taught to be responsible, and therefore, used my cabaza to think ahead, past my nose, or past the next 2 or 3 seconds of my life, so to speak.

It's always blah, blah, blah, he/she made a mistake.

IMO, the "mistake" defense is laughable. Unless perhaps he is to ignorant, or stupid, to realize that DUI has consequences and can kill innocent people.

He made a CHOICE/DECISION. If he was driving DUI, that was the CHOICE/DECISION he made. If he was driving reckless, or speeding, that was the CHOICE/DECISION he made. Putting his friends life at risk was the CHOICE/DECISION he made.

Why am I living :

Because it was my CHOICE/DECISION not to be ignorant, or stupid, or run with ignorant, stupid people.

18 is NOT old enough to drink. And drinking and driving drunk is NOT OK - too bad your parents never taught you those basics.

Terrible, terrible.... unfortunately, many teens enjoy drinking and partying in Pebble Beach for there is little or no security/police to catch them. Questions: 1) Why was the Coast Guard called in and not the lifeguards (who are in charge of the first 300 meters) 2) Will Daddy Fire Chief pay for this costly fee? 3) Will Daddy Fire Chief hire an attorney and sue both the Yant family and the one who supplied the boy(s) with alcohol? How nice it is to be able to sue others and not hold their own son to be accountable and responsible for their actions

And we just ignore the fact that the driver was drunk. He's 18 suck it up. Better yet put him in the military then he will see what being scared is.
