Please say NO to Metee-McCutchon for supervisor.
Just being a more experienced politician is NOT the better choice for county voters. Ms. Ila has received the endorsement of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association, and can now be expected to vote in favor of their self-interests at the expense of the majority of our voters. Ms. Ila has a proven record of walking hand-in-hand with the development-driven, special-interest groups of Realtors/Developers. Though she appears to be both a smart and talented politician, she is NOT a public servant who will well serve the majority of county voters. Ms. Ila is just another politician who will move this county in the wrong direction. Voting wrong on important issues will never outweigh her impressive resume.
Monterey, CA
Metee-McCutchon for supervisor
Those wishing to pick up the pace of development are likely to support Ila Mettee-McCutchon. As mayor of Marina for six years, she led the city's effort to remake its portion of Fort Ord, starting with retail ...

Jane Parker's live-in is Chris Fitz, executive director of LandWatch. They both share the same home address in Seaside. Look it up. It's in the public document file on-line at www.montereyelections.us under "candidates information". Here you'll find the Form 460 which all candidates are required to submit detailing names, addresses, and amounts that contributors give.
Additionally, the majority of Jane's support comes from the 5th District. Jane has raised enough money from Potter's district to move there and run a credible campaign against him. But this comes down to the fact that rich liberals in District 5 are attempting to buy an additional seat on the BoS. Traditions never die in Monterey County. Once again, we have the rich elites on the western end of the peninsula attempting to direct the politics of folks living in the poorer parts of Mty Cty.(Seaside, Marina & Salinas). Things never change here, do they? |

I hope the contest for the 4th District for County Supervisor will NOT be based upon who Ms. Parker may or may not be living with.
I also hope that Ms. Parker will receive financial support from voters living within ALL five districts within the county . The election of every supervisor within the county is important to ALL voters living within our county. |

Who cares who Jane lives with? Shall we re-surface the fact that Ila had to sue her own child in court who had embezzelled more than $15,000 from Ila? Cut the crap and deal with issues, not personal business.

rOEN & Ila not vote for her - you are missing the obvious "conflict of interest" that Ms. Parker has vis a vis her relationship with Fitz. Let's set this out step by step:
1). Jane & Chris live together, they are a "couple" 2). Jane sits on BoS 3). Chris runs LW 4). LW sues MoCo for a living. 5). LW business is always being discussed in "closed session" with the board. 6). Board members are expected to be "circumspect" with regards to privileged information given in "closed session". 7). Jane says she won't talk about what goes on in "closed session" with Chris? 8). Would you care to buy a bridge? For JP to expect us to believe she's as pure as the driven snow with regard to keeping secret the sensative landuse info supervisors are privy to, is to suspend reality. Jane Parker is far too compromised to serve on the BoS. End of Story. |

So Ila's daughter is a loser who chiseled 15 grand from her old lady. Big deal! Did it cost the taxpayers of Marina? Did it have any effect on the running of the city? Did it change landuse planning in town?
I thought so. |

Excuse me. Do you also remember the denial Ila was in "two times" when she went on cruises with a major developer and a member of City Council? She had the nerve to say no business was discussed! Get real. She is in bed with a confict of interest and she lies about it!

1 Yes the Herald is absolutely right it is a conflict that Jane lives with, owns the house with and is getting $5,000 from Chris Fitz of landwatch. Are they a couple? Who knows but we can prove they have a financial relationship that is a HUGE conflict of interest. Chris sues the county --- Jane can help let Chris know how much to settle for.... Jane Parker claims all this experience... she ran a business into the ground, she promotes registering to vote criminals... she tried to lie on her ballot statement saying she was a healthcare executive... somehow she tried and failed to convience the Register of Voters that she Jane Parker was a Healthcare Executive... she is the associate director at the Action Council... not the head person, not number 2, not number 3... she is like the 4 person on the totem poll of power in 4 person organization... Jane is the wrong choice at anytime!!!!!!!! |

Why do I have a feeling that Iconoclast is actually Tom Carvey?

I am unaware of any conflict-of-interests in the candidacy of Ms. Parker. My impression of her is that she is an ethical and honest person seeking public office. I also believe it would be unfair to assume Ms. Ila is jaded just because she has known ties to developers and realtors.
My main concern is with the campaign contributions being made to our future elected officials and the perception that money may influence policy. With our upcoming election on June 3rd, voters need to visit the Monterey County Elections Department Internet website (Candidate Services, Campaign Disclosure, Filed Forms – County) and view the campaign contributions being made to both candidates in the race for County Supervisor, District #4. The website has a District #4 posting for 01/08, but is expected to have an updated report filed at the end of May, just prior to the election. |

I was disappointed that The Gropenator appointed Ila - he should have stayed out of the fight. I am disappointed that Ila doesn't care that her massive signs have created visual blight all over Monterey County. I am disappointed that Santa Cruz residents like Bruce McPherson say they'll vote for Ila - WHEN THEY CAN'T!!! Ila's campaign is supported by big biz Republicans even tho' this is suppossed to be a non-party affliated position. Her claims of adding jobs to Marina all come from Wal-Mart which she claimed "snuck into" Marina - so she didn't create them!
Please support the HONEST Jane Parker - we don't need more greedy Republican liars. |

Since when did Carvey move to San Francisco? ;-0 |

The reality is that if these are the two best candidates that district has to offer we have a leadership void in that district and they shouldn't even be allowed a representative.

For once in his life, Biff55 has this one pegged. As residents of Monterey County we all fall under the influence of decisions made by all five supervisors. And when the choice between candidates is a sell-out developer groupie or a woman living with THE advocate for slow growth in our county, we are left with a choice between extremes. I have watched Ila operate her kingdom in Marina for awhile. She strikes me as a shrill cheerleader for anyone offering more tax revenue for her coffers. That whole smelly cruise-with-my-friends-the-dev eloper story sounded like corruption to me. Her actions since then have only reinforced this picture.
On the other hand, Jane Parker should have responded when the Herald called her on her relationship with Mr. Fitz. It would have been simple enough to have said something like "He's my significant other (or room mate, or husband, or friend renting a room). While we obviously share many of the same ideals, I will be my own independent voice on the board. I will, of course, recuse myself on issues involving any potential financial conflicts of interest." This would have answered the question appropriately, without giving up intimate details of their relationship. It's very simplistic to say it's her personal life and she doesn't need to respond to such questions. She's running for public office. Questions about how her relationships might affect her decision-making are relevant. She should have received better counsel from her handlers, and the issue could have been defused. An answer that basically says "none of your business" doesn't serve her well, and will lose her votes. Of course, at least this is a contest. The Armenta district race (there isn't one, because he's running unopposed again)is the one that always bothers me. No opposition, largely because there are about 23 registered voters in his district, even though his vote has as much weight as the vote of Dave Potter, who usually gets more votes than Armenta and Simon Salinas combined. People in Carmel Valley often have their issues decided by swing votes from Salinas area supervisors, who run unopposed. How's that for democracy?(Refer to the LAFCO decision on CV incorporation for more details). |

Big mistake Herald.

So you folks want bigger Targets and more Starbucks?
How about more houses built that nobody wants? How about moving all those developers into the new houses being built in Marina? I assume that's what you want for your children. Metee-McCutchon = "proven leadership"? Tell that to the people of Marina in 18 years. Looks more like $$All-In$$ and then Cash-out for Ila and "friends" of Marina -don't vote ILA June 3!!! |

Ila for Supervisor on June 3rd. She is better qualified with a real vision. We don't need a puppet for LandWatch at the Board of Supervisors.
