will mbari's reputation be further tarnished by lawsuits?

Will possibly pending lawsuits by LaborProBono for discrimination and harassment working conditions, and Jones Act Injury lawsuits for their groundings of their Research Vessel Western Flyer against MBARI further damage their credibility as leaders in ocean research?

MBARI announced a little while back that they had to start downsizing on orders from the Packard Foundation, which is their golden goose. I think the foundation was so angry at all of mbari management screw ups that they are just whittleing away at it until there is NO more mbari. Yes its a pity Julie seems SO CLULESS! There is much more to mbari as we are finding out of course! I know there is a journalist compiling info and writing a book about mbaris innere workings.

We can only hope and pray MARBI goes away. Like a rock on the beach it is time for the organization. Feel good science, The do not eat list that have nothing to do with science.

Dictating what fish is valuable and what fishery crashes because of a bad list. local fisherman were allowed an 8 day fishery this year. 8 days to make some money to keep the boats alive. When California salmon were added to there list the price crashed.

The fish were still caught but the profit was not there.

I AGREE!! The rich white elitist at MBARI give NO thought to the many lives they have ruined with their self absorbed edicts and actions. They are amongst the "ILK" that have decided we have global warming and citizens will have to curtail certain activities, and of course us poor people will need to pay more for energy etc. Are going to feed MY family Julie Packard now that we are in the poorhouse?

I think MBARI should close its doors, and let government researchers do a proper job with ocean research so its not BIASED with special interests, such as the global warming crowd, or the fisheries crowd, etc. Mbari has so MANY shipwrecks, i am just afraid they will really HARM the environment with a large fuel spill somewhere, such as their near miss right in the harbor this year!!
You can click on this Government website and type in Western Flyer under "Involved Vessel" and you can get an idea how they are in over there head so to speak. So the answer is YES, there crediblity will be even WORSE.

Now I hear MBARI has a Lawsuit against the local boatyard in Moss Landing for being a gross polluter. To the tune of 110 million. Since when is MBARI a cop. They sang a sweet song to get into Moss Landing. Now they ave turned on local business...nice move Julie!
