3 Frankly, despite the fact that Mr. Peterson was both an insensitive, self absorbed and unattractive defendant, the promises made by his attorney that Scott would be proven innocent was irresponsible and unnecessary since the State had the burden of proving guilt of a defendant presumed to be innocent. The horrendous nature of the crime does not translate to guilt on the part of this obvious narcisist. Let the appellate proces take its course to ensure that even this man had due process of law at each step of the proceeding. Once that is established, the important protections that are guaranteed to us all will be vindicated and no one can complain that Mr. Peterson did not receive all benefits to which he is legally entitled. |
