Do you have any information on who may have been paying Rosie, Kathy, the felon or any of their campaign managers, spouse, etc.
"this is why our city is in the bad shape it's in."
The reason why Montebello is "in the bad shape it's in" is because the gang of three and their administration embezzled each and every city fund to the max, even "restricted" funds such as transportation funds, bond proceeds, Prop A and Prop C monies, etc They certified a HUD project as completed when it had not even been started.
They "spent" the same CRA funds from the Mall CRA area on the Whittier blvd CRA area THREE TIMES.
Two of the projects are dead and the Hills project of a new cultural center at Taylor ranch was robbed of its funds.
The current council has had no funds to do any funny business.
The city is over $100,000,000 upside down.
That's a big "nut" to try and work around.
Give your current council a big high five for just keeping the doors open and the lights on.

It's not the council that are keeping the doors open and lights on, it is the tax payers and businesses in Montebello. The current Council has done nothing, offered nothing and continues to do nothing but appearances and give out certificates. Have you been to a council meeting lately? We need more businesses to generate income. Too many empty spaces along Beverly and Whittier Blvd.

So you agree with the position taken by the opponents of the Montebello Hills Specific Plan? Retail/commercial is more profitable than residential?

I'm glad that you agree with Bill Molinari's long time warnings that Montebello needs redevelopment along Whittier Blvd and other areas because of all the empty storefronts.

It may have escaped your attention that this council, and the previous council majority have had to contend with and repair all the damage the independent audits say the Vasquez council did to the city's finances. Those that attend the city council meetings regularily know that the last two councils have had to make hard decisions with greatly diminished financial resources.

I also echo Question and congratulate you in showing good sense and embracing the development stance of residents who make up the Save the Montebello Hills Task Force: No condos in the Hills, but new businesses needed in the city.

Question
What would you have the council "do"
They have NO MONEY.
They are running the City on Pay check to Paycheck.
Just enough cash on hand so that they may not need a TRAN this year to get through the no income period..
They have (slightly) rising debt (example HILTON)so that they may maintain CSH FLOW.
They put a stop to the Million Dollar a year illegal overtime raid on the treasury by the so called "public safety" Unions, but are they current on Pension and health care payments??
When you are up to your ass in Alligators it's hard to focus on draining the swamp.
There are some bargains in Montebello
Developers and new businesses need to grab them before they are gone.
Prices have started to rise as have interest rates
the recession may be "over" meaning we're not going down any more but economy not near back to normal yet
What would you have them do?
March for Montebello was Free
About all the City could Afford.
What would YOU have them do- nail down the candidates.

X acknowledged that they failed to register as lobbyists and report their paid advocacy work for part of this year and last year on behalf of clients seeking favorable actions from state government.

Is Jack an X? Paid as a Shill for the Central Basin Water District? Using the City's name in vain? Is Jack bought and paid for? yet?

“This is the first time that the commission has ever dealt with an issue like this of shadow lobbying and it was a proactive investigation that was done at the instigation of the [commission’s] enforcement division,” Ravel said.

“It is part of our emphasis now on looking at more significant matters that impact the public trust and this is exactly that kind of a case,” Ravel said.

Yes. BTW...I don't honestly believe the Montebello Hills Project will ever happen. Simply because, Mining company, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc.(FCX) reported on Wednesday that they will be acquiring both Plains Exploration & Production Company(PXP) and McMoRan Exploration Co.(MMR) in the second quarter of 2013. FCX will purchase PXP for $6.9 billion in cash and stock.

Bankrupt Montebello is not on their agenda.

Cortez should recuse herself. Did you know that she was running 3 candidates?

Did you know she has plans to fire the following if she gets a majority vote:

City Administrator
Police Chief
and a few other city employees

Did you know she is attempting yet another audit at the taxpayers expense. Look at all three candidate statements:

Flavio Gallarzo
Daniel Hernandez

FCX completed it's acquisition of PXP and MMR back in June.

Freeport has already added Montebello to it's website.

I still don't know that anyone is 'running 3 candidates.'

All councilmember candidates are either endorsed or not endorsed by sitting councilmembers. What's new?

Where are these alleged candidate statements? No one appears to have seen these. Please provide links.

Walk over to the civic center and request them like I did. The statements are public information.

Read the their mailers.

Freeport McMoRan took on a significant load of debt when it purchased PXP and MMR.

In July, the Arizona Daily Star reported:

"Phoenix-based Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. is cutting spending by $1.9 billion this year and next and started a process to sell some U.S. energy assets as the world's biggest publicly traded copper miner seeks to reduce its debt."

"Freeport's debt jumped to $21.2 billion as of June 30 from $3.52 billion a year earlier, after it acquired Plains Exploration & Production Co. and McMoRan Exploration Co. for $9 billion to add oil and natural gas assets."

It will be interesting to see if FCX decides to cut it's debt by discontinuing the so far, unsuccessful attempts to obtain the real estate entitlements for the Montebello hills oil field.

42 yr North Mtb resident continues to be blinded by his (Popoff) own delusions of grandeur and obsession over the hills. Of course crazy Cortez is running three candidates and heads will roll if this lady (if she can be called that) gets control of the council. As for candidate statements, they are public information and 42 yr...is wrong in stating that no one has seen them. Lastly, to NOT build on the hills WILL bankrupt Montebello. PoliSci speaks the truth. Michael, you are living in lala land.

NO ONE of the 20 or so people from the La Merced area that were questioned today had received ANY mailers from Delgado, Gallarzo, or Hernandez, or knew about any of their candidate statements.

Most people who work don't have time to go to City Hall to get candidates' statements filed with the city, and those who do generally share them with those who ask. Most people get enough political mailers sent to them in Montebello, so when they arrive that will be the time to comment.

Losers is one of.
Montebello is already Bankrupt
Cash flow is maintained by "deferring" required payments, and "financing"
Sooner or later the bills come due.
Hopefully the economy improves enough to hold off the defaults.
How is Kosmont going to re-finance the big balloon payment?
It's tempting to build on the hills to get a quick fix. But as with any fix the big crash will come.
Bill's quote of the "specific plan" Projected Recurring Annual financial Impacts after buildout (through 2028) appear to be in the half million dollar a year range, not including school district costs.
Do not look at the re herring of project incomes- look at the costs (and the unstated costs like school transportation)
Montebello will then be worse of for around 30 years. Makes the Ostrom Chevrolet give away look like a charity.
How is it that Baldwin Park can be proactive with a 10 year plan and Montebello can't?

42 year delusions of grandeur?
You, sir, are delusional
Stick with the facts and lay of personal attacks.
If you could read and understand the developers documents Bill and whoever 42 year is would not have to quote the documents for you.

From the other thread
Bill Molinari states

"The Developer says the Project will generate Revenue for the City's General Fund but even His Own financial analysis shows a NEGATIVE FINANCIAL IMPACT for the City- NOT a Surplus"

http://www.topix.com/forum/city/montebello-ca...

quoting one of the same documents 42 year quotes

From the 28th page of the FIA of the proposed Condo Development on the city's website:

"Table 3-1 presents the projected recurring General Fund fiscal impacts and the net RDA property tax increment after buildout for the 20 Percent Reduced Pricing Alternative. As shown in the third column of Panel A of Table 3-1, a recurring annual deficit of $433,937 is projected for the General fund after buildout of the 20 Percent Reduced Pricing Alternative."

TT understands English, and has explained this point exhaustively. I usually just ignore the wilfully ignorant, but this point is too important to pass over.

That is the factual justification for saying "More accurately, TO Bankrupt Montebello is not on their agenda.(hopefully)"

This is why factual statements are so nice to use in civil arguments. The corrupt, being bereft of facts, are left only with personal invective to use. That worked so well for the Gang of Three election in 2009.
