How "PROGRESSIVE" It is to vote liberal/progressive and expect anything good, maybe you "hope" that they will "change" the way they operate and for once do the right thing, but just like the mind set of the insane you do the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome so I say to you my fellow Californians we are doomed as long as you view politics like sports, and stick to your team(democrats) no matter what, they place you in a box and give you a freebie and you pull the vote lever for them and you don't see the box next to you has voted like wise and has just punched you in the head? e.g you want amnesty and vote for that reason the box next to you wants Christmas and GOD out, problem is you believe in GOD? so you thinking you did good for your people and at the same time you just smacked GOD, you go to church and pray daily and you vote for abortion so are you democrat or Christian? a lot to figure out but you have to think figure it out our lives, freedoms and liberties depend on it, I see it like this democrats are the rabbit the republicans are the turtle the finish line is socialism, difference is one gets us their faster than the other...wake up and wake up now socialism/communism/progressiv ism and anything leftism always ends up bad? PS: far right is not any better it is a balance and what is good for you is not for some else careful and proceed with caution you don't have the right to step on people cause you don't like what they do...have a good day GOD bless and please, please do what is right and not what feels good

As Former SGPD pointed out, the effects upon the users of crack cocaine or methamphetamine are not the same. Meth users can sometimes function, that is hold jobs (think trucker, graveyard shift factory worker). Crack users typically can't. The reason is probably the short acting duration of the effects of crack. Both have deleterious effects upon the user and the community.
Methamphetamine is cooked in illegal labs. You raise a good question, where did the meth in question come from? Well, thanks to all the publicity in this case, the chain of supply in question has probably packed up and moved to Colorado or someplace. The ability of law enforcement to work up the chain and take down the suppliers was sacrificed for cheap headlines, cheap publicity three weeks before an election. The suppliers will set up shop somewhere else and contaminate another community.

wonder why correctly observes
" the users of crack cocaine or methamphetamine are not the same. Meth users can sometimes function, that is hold jobs (think trucker, graveyard shift factory worker). Crack users typically can't. The reason is probably the short acting duration of the effects of crack."
Which is irrelevant as far as the dealer is concerned
"Both have deleterious effects upon the user and the community."
So what is the policy
Former LAPD drug czar tells me that investigation should move up the chain before any arrest of a low level dealer/ user.
There is no evidence of any political/ election/ conspiracy connection (YET)

The difference between crack and meth IS relevant as far as the dealer is concerned IF the dealer is also a user.
As far as no evidence of poli/elec/cons....
1. According to la times, Mtb pols contacted County Sheriffs 'a month ago'.
2. After a mere month's investigation, 40 officers reportedly descend on a low-level 'dealer'.
3. A news helicopter is flying above the scene as the arrest and search begin.
4. There are more facts that will be in evidence later, but, for now, this is enough for a circumstantial case. My wife confirms this.

Interesting thread. I gotta jump in and say: it all comes down to either, she knew something was going on and allowed it to happen with her kids in the house, or she had no idea. I believe either one could be true. That said, regardless, she should step down. Either she is so naive to figure this out, if so, step down. If she knew and looked the other way, step down. I don't care if its election month, she still has 2 more years I think.
By the way- just drive by city hall and saw the news vans. I'm sure today's council meeting will be a riot. As one of the previous comments read- thanks for the publicity. It is kind of embarrassing for me to say I live in this city.

Believe me, Frank Gomez won't think twice about knocking on your door, in fact he will be laughing as this City crumbles to ruins! Why don't you go jump into bed with Ruben with your poor baby comment. Oh wait, he might not need to look far once he is convicted and is sent away, you know what i mean...

We don't need to invite gang bangers to our city, they are already here. When was the last time you were in Bill and Art's neighborhood in South Montebello? Besides, this used to be the Beverly Hills of East LA, now it's straight Tijuana?

I bet Bill is just loving all this since all the heat is taken off of him for now....

QUERY: William Molinari, Art Barajas, Flavio Gallarzo, Daniel Hernandez, Vivian Romero, Emma Delgado, Anna Arriola, Christina Cortez, Jack Hadjinian, Frank Gomez: SEARCH: Arrest, Report, Encounter Database; 72 hours; ALL Jurisdictions, L.A. County, State of California
RESULTS: No matches.
Sorry, Glass, no council members with the above names were arrested or had a report filed on them in the last 72 hours in the State's Law Enforcement Database or ARIES.
Just another internet rumor.

Former LAPD drug czar would surely know that it's the information gathered dring the arrest, search and interrogation of a low level dealer that often allows law enforcement to move up the drug supply chain. In this case the next level up the chain would have been alerted by the copious media coverage before deputies could even start work on the next level.

I have a case number for you 91M00321. The candidate received two years probation after pleading guilty.

Plenty of time to move up the chain
what did they find?
Even if the distributor rabbited he can run but how long can he/she hide?
A month is also plenty of time for leaks to develop
No reason for Christina to resign
She has excellent positions on many issues
Deaf and dumb on others
Is she learning?
Should she have been elected and re-elected?

They found NO DRUGS OR MONEY in their Homes or Cars or on there person... He was arrested away from his home brought back to his home and MEDIA was already there.... hmmmm how did they get there so quick?? how did they know A warrant was going to be set in action... hmmmm MAYBE BECAUSE SOMEONES SN WORKS FOR MTB POLICE AND mtb wasted precious CITY MONEY to follow and set up stings to catch a drug user!!! not a drug dealer... U guys r idiots... SET UP BIG TIME... GOMEZ AND MOLINARI HAVE THEIR INS WITH PD...AND THEIR REASONS TO DO STAY ON GUERRERO.... TAX DOLLARS WASTED AGAIN BY THIS OLD MAN ...
#117 Oct 24, 2013
Do u kno he was arrested away from his home, and that LA county sherrifs took him back to his home and when he got home THE MEDIA was their already... Waiting?? For what? How did they know this was going to happen?? and MTB police insite...maybe because you don't want attachments to the source, and why would they take him back into his home, just to bring him out again.... FOR THE MEDIA? and then put Ruben in one cop care, but then move him to another and take his hood off his jacket off... FOR THE MEDIA??? You need to look at the ties of where it leads to ... Funny 3 weeks before an election to draw negativity and have the city in an up roar... Well crooked politicians it didn't work, your home work should have been done by your campaign manager cause Honey All you did Was get her more Support!!! You really did... No one cares what her husband did... If she stood by his drug habit, that's her doing and her families... But what's crazy about this all.... YOU COULDN'T GET ANYTHING ON CORTEZ!!! you had to find something you didn't have to go far either because Ruben doesn't hide, he doesn't care what we think of him... He has vices like everyone else does and he is literally an open book and an all around good guy despite what you say he does.... Definitely here the Good Out way the bad! Let the investigation continue... And in the end The Truth shall Prevail

Big so what- they wanted to search the home
after a month someone talked
News would have done the same thing election or no election
Doesn't take a conspiracy
If Cook-Hill thought trying to discredit Christina would help them and discredit Bill, Art, etc.
What does Montebello Forward have to say?
#119 Oct 24, 2013
You know, I am not interested in any mud slung 2 weeks before the election, unless it is a felony.
The revelations 3 weeks before the election gave Arnold Schwarzenneger an unintended boost from those who perceived that any allegations, even true ones, brought out in such a politically timed manner were dirty tricks.
The past city council meeting shows that Christina, at least, is receiving the same kind of political boost. It remains to be seen if her boost will help her three candidates, but already there are rumors of just that.
Keep your dirty tricks for another time, unless you WANT to help the candidate about whom you claim to know something secret. My wife says I will have to clean the computer after this post is done.
#120 Oct 24, 2013
Gomez is leaving town. I don't think Molinari had anything to do with the arrest, it's timing or the media set up. He HATES having Montebello get negative publicity. It works against his dreams of getting more retail/commercial development here. The questions are, Who would benefit from the media set up? Who did the police association endorse? Molinari Was Not endorsed by the police association.
#121 Oct 24, 2013
Just because the Sheriff's deputies got a tip a month earlier Does Not mean that they had the information that could be obtained from arrest/search/interrogation of a suspect. How could they move up the chain based on info they didn't have yet? What a nonsensical caim.
#122 Oct 24, 2013
Similar investigations of LA gangs, the Mexican Mafia, the Mongols motorcycle gang, and other criminal investigations all over the county often take YEARS, sometimes MANY YEARS.
To say a month is plenty of time shows no interest in useful investigation.
