What percentage of the budget goes to the fire and police?

Has the city considered contracting services ?

I'm new to the city. Well, returning to
My hometown.

Anyway, what's the deal with the lack of city staff and programs through parks and rec compared to other cities.

I talked to someone that works there. They have 7 part time staff at the main park and NONE at any of the other parks. I came from a city that had 22 staff to facilitate programming at the sports park. They did a lot.

Here , they also do a lot, if not more! So what's with the lack of staffing?

Does anyone know how much parks and rec employees get paid? They didn't want to mention it to me so I wouldn't feel sorry for the staff. I'm guessing there not only understaffed but underpaid.

I don't really know any of the employees and I'm not trying to martyr for them I just want to compare.

Pico Rivera down the street has tons of staff and great programs to back it up .

I want to see the city of montebello offer our kids what they deserve

The city is barely paying its bills and Art Barajas talks about alleys? This guy is brainless. He was elected to provide answers and thats all he can offer while sitting up there. Unbelievable. Time to move on Barajas. This job is way too big for you man.

If you can get an electronic copy of the 6-12-13 city council agenda with all the supporting documents, you will get a complete city budget for year 2014. In it, the police and fire get 61% of the city's budget and parks & rec get 8%.

Other answers can be gotten by making a Public Records Request at city hall, or going to a city council meeting and asking your questions in the public orals portion of the meeting. You have to submit a speaker's card by 6:30 to be able to speak publicly, or you could wait around until after the meeting and ask your questions to the applicable department heads or councilmembers.

Typical buffoons running the city. They need some real cash. Cortez and Barajas are more worried about being liked and staying on the council. What wastes of the people's time and money. Typical corrupt politicians.

Thank you. That is pretty sad. What will it take for MONTEBELLO to be funded In the human service/rec program side like the other cities I mentioned? Cerritos, Lakewood, Pico Rivera,Whittier .

No Halloween events, no Christmas events, no 4th of July, it's kinda sad to be honest with you.

Every aspect of the department is under staffed .

Maybe it's not a priority here, but the more the kids are active in the park, the less they are growing up tagging and gang bagging. Keeping the kids occupied and having fun is what it's all about.

Anyway, thank you all for your feedback

Fact is, the people in Montebello elect uneducated wannabees that can barely spell their names. Watching Art Barajas and Christina Cortez on local TV is pitiful. They are both an embarrassment.

recently Dr. Frank Gomez set up all the straw-men
consider:
Outsourcing the Fire Dept to the County
Development in the Hills
etc.
Frank well knows that any politician that supports either of these proposals is dead in the water.
You Only have to look at the recent Vote in Monterey Park and the previous vote here.
The recalls

Still they must be "considered" ...

but count on neither to "save the City"
Tough work to get new taxpaying retail and commercial.
No grandstanding on these issues, no "pie in the sky" either.
Get started on the new General Plan NOW.
Put Planning back in the Economic development Department.
