New Board Majority on Central Basin Municipal Water District Fires Two Top Officials
A new majority on the Central Basin Municipal Water District Board of Directors Thursday voted to terminate the contracts of their top two officials.
One was a former Pico Rivera city manager and the other was a former councilman. The second was former Pico Rivera Councilman Ron Beilke, who about a month ago was named assistant to the general manager.
The district's attorney, Arnold Alvarez-Glasman told the board that district's adminstrative code has no provision allowing the removal of a board president. However, the board's agenda only called for "Discussion of Selection of Board Officers" and didn't mention suspension of the adminstirative code, Alvarez-Glasman said. "The question is are you sufficiently comfortable that there's enough notice to the public on the motion," Glasman said.
"There are no rules," Royal said in response. "I think I'm hearing the board has the right to act on its own wishes."Full Story
