California State Sen. RON CALDERON Sets Up Legal Defense Fund Because of FBI Probe
Well-known for fundraisers at out-of-state golf courses and plush resorts, state Sen. Ron Calderon has a new reason to solicit money from friends, family and the interest groups that do business in California's Capitol.
"These funds will be only to pay the attorney's fees and other legal costs related to the defense of the candidate as well as administrative costs directly related to compliance with recordkeeping and reporting requirements," says the letter signed by Calderon and Yolanda Miranda, treasurer of Calderon's committee.Full Story

Why is it that the local papers do not pick up on these stories of vital local interest.
We have to rely on the Modesto Bee, Sacramento Bee, San Louis Obispo paper- others.
Perhaps the FBI and IRS should investigate any and all donors to this spurious fund raising committee

Central Basin water district to lay off Gil Cedillo Jr
Before he came to Central Basin, Cedillo Jr. was chief
of staff for then-Assemblyman Ron Calderon, D-Montebello, and earlier was senior field representative for then-Assemblyman Tom Calderon, D-Montebello.
The Calderons have been under scrutiny since the FBI in June served a search warrant on Ron Calderon's Sacramento office. FBI agents also interviewed a man who hoped to win a contract with Central Basin.
Tom Calderon was hired as a consultant at Central Basin Municipal Water District, only weeks after leaving office in 2002. He's supposedly been paid more than $700,000 over that time and has been accused of using influence to gain contracts.
He also had ties to Water2Save, a Solana Beach-based company that carried out water conservation programs for Central Basin.
His brothers, Ron, and former Assemblyman Charles Calderon both authored bills on behalf of the district.

The same Tom Calderon was appointed to the City of Montebello's Planning Commission in 2008 by then Mayor Rosie Vasquez. She is the wife of then Central Basin Board of Directors member Ed Vasquez. Ed Vasquez had repeatedly voted to approve Tom Calderon's expensive contracts as a "consultant" for the Central Basin Water District. Central Basin was in the process of making business arrangements with Cook-Hill Properties LLC, the would-be developer of the last remaining open space Montebello Hills.
Tom Calderon also was a paid consultant to the San Gabriel Valley Water Company, the very company that would provide water to the proposed Montebello Hills dense housing tract. Despite these obvious conflicts of interest Tom Calderon made it clear that he intended to vote on the proposed project. When a city attorney told him he could not do that, he mysteriously missed several Planning Commission meetings. A few months later he lost the Planning Commission position after Rosie Vasquez was defeated in her bid for re-election.
