So did Molinari seek favors for family and friends? We need a DA/FBI investigation on this and Sprague should keep digging. If we keep electing this joker, we deserve the decaying city we have.

Let's see, no one benefited from anything Molinari did, no objectively verifiable evidence of any wrongdoing that affected the construction by Molinari, the homes were all built, all according to the plaintiff. Where's the basis for any suit? Mighty thin stuff.

Sounds like some really sour grapes to me. I know that if someone does me some kind of harm, I have a year to sue. After that, it's too late. Don't the plaintiff's know that? What kind of lawyer would accept a case like this, that is apparently baseless on its face?

Aren't these guys who are suing the city the developers who years ago took money to build low income housing and then reneged and tried to keep the money? Isn't that what Danny Ku did? Are these developers under investigation like Ku was?

I remember this matter being discussed at city council meetings about six years ago. Either Norma Lopez Reid or Rosie Vasques was mayor, can't remember which. The city or its redevelopment agency had given the developer monies on the condition that low income housing be built. The developer built higher priced housing then didn't want to pay back the city money. I thought the matter had been settled with the developer agreeing to pay back the money.

If the current city council were to vote to give the developer money, when the matter is past statute of limitations, it would be a politically motivated gift of public funds. The developer's son has had a close alliance with Councilman Jack Hadjinian. Hadjinian's candidate for city council won in the last election. Maybe developer thinks it's time for him to make his move if he can just get Mayor Molinari out of the way. Nothing like having friends in high places.

Speaking of people who have friends who Used To Be in high places, Hadjinian has been known to travel to Sacramento to back up(and go on record for) Ron and Tom Calderon regarding pending legislation. One matter was SB1368 (regarding Central Basin Water District) which the Calderons and Hadjinian opposed. It passed overwhelmingly. Maybe it's time for Councilmember Hadjinian to show a little more caution.

Molinari was not in power till November 2009
this deal went down long before that
Did they sue the City or the Redevelopment Agency and Successor agency?
High buck mouthpiece attorney also represented Savercherian in his attempted sale of 6 properties on Whittier blvd which was pushed through at Rosie Vasquez, last council meeting as Mayor AFTER she was defeated for re-election and the "Gang of Three" lost their majority.

Something stinks here

I've been told that the son of the developer who filed this lawsuit was heavily involved in the city council campaign of our newest city council member, possibly serving as her campaign manager. Des anyone know anything about that?

Records of the California State Legislature show that, a few years ago, the developer's son and Councilmember Hadjinian were introduced together at a legislative session by one of the Calderon brothers who was serving in the assembly. These alliances go way back. Hadjinian and our newest city council member (who was Hadjinian's commissioner and was supported by him in the recent election) should recuse themselves from voting on this lawsuit and claim.

You can thank 42 yr for posting this link last year:

http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/11-12/bill/sen/...

This has Jack's name on page 3, listing him as 'City of Montebello Councilmember' in opposition to SB1368 mentioned above that was opposed by the Calderons, Central Basin, the San Gabriel Water Company, and some cities.

Let's see, who are Jack's supporters and apparent allies? The Calderons, John Noguez, Leroy Baca, Central Basin, and now people suing the city.

Sterling characters all?

Is best Jack can do is recuse himself and hope there aren't any additional investigations?

Mr. Minasian, Garfield Financial, doesn't have much of a case. The City never agreed to repay him for these normal project expenses, and Mr. Minasian personally signed and released the city from this claim in Oct 2005 in "Settlement Agreement and Release #2263" with the city: "Hereby Releases and Forever Discharges." Now He wants three friendly votes on the City Council to give him $4 million anyway.

His friends on the Council should not be deciding on this. Make him take the facts to court for an impartial judge to evaluate.

Does Mr Minasian's have any links to anyone on the city council?

Mayor Pro Tem Hadjinian and Michael Minasian are active together on the San Gabriel Valley Armenian National Committee. Michael Minasian's son Mo was the 2013 campaign manager for the new Councilwoman Vivian Romero and the Armenian National Committee endorsed Councilman Art Barajas' Re-Election campaign. So, there's that... as Walter White would say.

When is this planned "gift to political supporters" (I.e. gift of public funds) coming back before the council? What does the leadership of the MPOA and the Firefighters Association think of the attempted scam of four million dollars from the city's reserves? If the scam is successful there goes the hard working safety employees' hopes for raises and increased pensions. And nearer, nearer draws the specter of bankruptcy for the city. If this scam succeeds then all those people who said Montebello is like Bell will have been right.

Perhaps he's referring to the List of Jack Hadjinian and Vivian Romero's campaign contributors, friends, and acquaintances who stand to benefit from this gift of public funds?

Maybe he's talking about the people associated with the lawsuit supported by the Calderons, Chacons, Noguez and similarly ethically challenged people?

Do you understand the concept of scale? If Molinari did EVERYTHING he is alleged, from Attina to Telacu to this, plus 20 years of interest still is less than a third of the Sevacharian giveaway by Rosie and company, and less than 5% of the Athens' giveaway.

Are you just as outraged by proven, current, gifts of public funds that have been investigated and confirmed as the unproven, unconfirmed piddling little alleged transgressions of Molinari? I doubt it, as Molinari's attackers have no ethical reasons to attack him compared to the huge illicit giveaways by the Vasquez group of three.

According to the numerous audits of Montebello, the Sevacharian giveaway is largely responsible for the city's being unable to pay comparable wages to our public safety employees, fund the type of recreation programs nearby cities have, and staff city hall.

The Athens' giveaway is a huge drain on residents' disposable income, with all the thousands of dollars per person the giveaway will reportedly cost Montebello's residents over the lifetime of the giveaway. ALL that money could have gone to local businesses, generating business income, jobs and sales tax revenue to the city treasury.

Of course, the mini-Depression happened at nearly the same time as these two economy-destroying gifts of public funds, making it impossible to hide them forever.

There is a puzzling lack of outrage over these recent confirmed boondoggles, plus many others by the Vasquez cabal, like the $50,000 Plaque for Nothing at the Taylor Ranch House corner, the giveaways of public funds to Jimmy's Restaurant and many, many other hemorrhages of the 'many, many bank accounts' that Rosie said the city had to draw upon.

THE beneficiary is Michael Minasian, Pres. Garfield Financial. He gets $4mil.

He has tried this every few years. The city denies his claim (as they should) and instead of suing the city and going to court, he drops it and files the same claim again later when he thinks that current council majority might say yes to his request.

He never proceeds to court because he has no legitimate claim to the money and he knows he would certainly lose in court.
