Ive been taking my dogs to cameron animal hospital now for almost 2 years. Dr. Cameron is great to my dogs suzie and lacey. He is the only one that is worth talking to. If you have to deal with someone there, he is the only one that recommend you to speak to. The incompetence of the staff and the other vets will astound you. The record keeping and the lies will never bring me back to them again.
My dog got very sick a few months back while i was unemployed. The bill would have been over $2000 if we didnt accept a foster dog that was residing there. I accepted the dog (lacey), to help with the bill. Right off the bat I told the person that was going to foster her until Suzie got better was that I cant afford to have her spayed and have her first shots. I was told by her that it would be taken care of. The dog was being fostered and was rushed on me (saying that she would keep the dog if I didnt get her) before Suzie was feeling better. I accepted the dog early, thank god she didnt get sick. Again repeating please ask Dr cameron to take care of this. Again she said there is no problem.
After having the dog for almost 2 months and calling many times for her paperwork I got the excuse that the person who does that was on vacation.
That excuse was made again today when I picked up Lacey and the spay bill was over $400. This doesnt include the past due bill that they said I owed which I paid. They didnt have it on file so I have to go home now and get the reciept to prove it. I proved it. I also asked why was the person who does the dogs paperwork was on vacation for 2 months. I got no answer. The shots that Lacey got-no record! No tags for her either. And I paid for everything. After I talked to one of the other vets there to tell them it was supposed to be free, they sent out another person to deal with us. Funny how the person who fostered her and Dr Cameron had the day off. Wonder why they scheduled her for yesterday and to pick her up the day they were both off?!?!
I will not be going back there! You can email me if you like to hear this story again....

I don't like Dr. Cameron. He is way overrated and certainly not worth the hours you spend in his waiting room waiting to be seen. He doesn't euthanize when he should and I've known cases where animals suffered because of this.

I was horrified to read the very negative reviews of Dr. Cameron's co-workers and staff below. While I don't mean to demean the experience of those individuals and am very sorry for their difficulties, their incredibly negative and angry reviews made me realize that I needed to write a response. My experience with Dr. Cameron, Dr. Ruiz, and Dr. Miller has been nothing but first-rate. For the last two years, all three of my cats have been seeing the doctors at the hospital. I have had pets (dogs, cats, goats, horses, gerbils, etc.) since I was born, so I have more than my fair share of experience with vets. I will gladly see any of the experienced doctors at this hospital. The care costs are more than reasonable, and I can say that having had the following experiences: a cat in for four days for emergency in-patient care, a kitten neutered and monitored through initial shots, regular check-ups for all three of my cats, and smaller, non-life-threatening injuries. As I said, I don't mean to demean the experiences of the posters below, but I do want to make it very clear that this is one of the most compassionate, knowledgeable, and caring practices I have encountered in a long time. If you are looking for a vet (which is probably why you're reading these reviews), you have found one who truly will love your animals as much as you do.
(As an additional note: You will see this same review of mine on another site, Insider Pages. I was so horrified by the negative and, in my experience, inaccurate review of the poster that I wanted to find any place where he had reviewed and also share my experience. I do so because it is very difficult to find a good vet, and the vast majority of reviews make it clear that Drs. Cameron, Ruiz, and Miller are among those few. Since I feel the same way, I want to let you, as someone most likely searching for a vet, know what the hospital really has to offer. Ultimately, here is my recommendation: go visit one day. Stop into the waiting room and talk to random patients. See why they're there. Meet the doctors. Trust your instinct--you'll know how incredible this place really is.)

I am glad you had a positive experience; it's important to find a vet with whom you are comfortable. But I stand by my comment that I wouldn't touch Cameron Animal Hospital with a 10-foot pole. If it's time to ease my pets to the Rainbow Bridge, I want a vet who will support me in that and not cause the pet any extra suffering. I know of at least two cases where this is exactly what happened at CAH. Perhaps these situations were anomalies but I would not take that chance where my own beloved pets are concerned.

In over thirty years of receiving top-notch quality and compassionate care for our dogs from Dr. Cameron and Staff, I needed to respond to the negative comments stated by Nellie-Boston, Mass. My first concern is that the comments were not first addressed at CAH. Why the need to anonymously publish negative comments? It is my belief that you, having perceived some negative impressions, would have benefitted from a thorough and professional explanation from Dr. Cameron and Staff of the reasons for their actions. And I am certain you would have been extremely satisfied by them. Let me share one of my family's wonderful and treasured experiences with this outstanding veterinarian, Dr. George Cameron. Our golden had incurable sarcoma of the mouth. After one surgery, the cancer recurred, with no hope for recovery. All options were discussed with us, we were led to our own decision to put the dog down. The whole process was completed with dignity, compassion and love. Dr. Cameron's HEART is in his practice. Have you ever seen him sitting with kittens covering his chest, in the back, to keep them warm. It is truly YOUR LOSS if you never avail your pets of his animal care again.

Carol, I respect your opinion, But please let me have mine. My comments are honest and from the HEART and based on my experience. What is the reason for these forums if not to comment honestly? It is not my loss-or my pet's-not to go back to this vet. That is my reality. You are welcome to your reality and to state it here.

DR. CAMERON IS A FANTASTIC VET!! I WENT TO HIM BECAUSE 2 OTHER VETS COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY DOG. DR. CAMERON WAS RECOMMENDED BY A GROUP OF BREEDERS AND SINCE THEN, MY 9 & 8 YR.OLD DOGS HAVE RECEIVED THE BEST, KINDEST, MOST UNDERSTANDING CARE FROM BOTH DR. CAMERON AND HIS STAFF. BECAUSE I LEAVE W/ 2 DOGS, THEY EVEN RUN TO HOLD THE DOOR FOR ME. DR. CAMERON WAS THE ONLY MAN MY RESCUE DOG WAS NOT AFRAID OF.(IT TOOK 3 YRS FOR ANY OTHERS). HE HAS BEEN CALLED IN ON LEGAL CASES, THEY SHELTER CATS, AND IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT HE DONATES TIME AT SPAY & NEUTER CLINICS. I WON'T LIST ALL OF HIS WONDERFUL ATTRIBUTES BECAUSE I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET ANOTHER APPOINTMENT - HE IS SO GREAT!!!

Dr. Cameron is the vet you really want to go to. If anyone disagrees they should really question their judgement.

I have also had nothing but positive experiences at Cameron Animal Hospital. I whole-heartedly agree with the above, glowing report by MTV in Lyndhurst, and note that this person travels a few towns over to get to this wonderful office.
Dr. Cameron cares about animals more than anyone I have ever encountered, and I feel confident, knowing that my cat is in the care of a vet who is so nurturing to him.

I like and respect Dr. Cameron very much but I agree, the waiting room waits are awful! And that is WITH an appointment. I always try and bring my dog at the earliest appt. possible and I still have to wait at least 45 minutes. Hire some more helpers! There are certainly enough people out of work.

That's great if you've found a vet that you like and trust. Unfortunately, my experience wiht that vet was entirely different. Please respect that we all have different experiences and don't tell me my judgment is off.
