I was on that train. Unluckily I had to take the train that night. I don't know where the paper got that idea that we took a cab to PJ. We sat there until approx 1:30 am until the next train coupled with us and pushed us into Port Jervis. It's against Federal law for the engineer to continue to drive the train after an accident of this magnitude. It was a suicide. The conductor said the guy was sitting cross legged on the tracks waiting for the train. Probably trying to levitate. I guess it didn't work. Asshole. good riddance.

Just to tell you, you have no clue what you are talking about and neither does this website. It wasn't a 20 year old man but a man that was in his 50's. A man that was my brothers father.

are you serious sandra? someone dies and your concerned about how much sleep you got? people are so considerate these days. It makes you want to cry when you hear about a tragic death, suicide or not, this is crazy. And you make a joke about it relating to your sleeping habits? just great.

Well, I heard his wife wasn't too worried about it either, but more concerned for how much money she would get.

So everybody knows he was my uncle and 55. He just spent 18 years in prison. Was he an asshole, maybe? Did he want to die,I dont know. What I do know is that it was tragic no matter what you say. Our prison system failed and he paid with his life. To spend 18 yrs in prison must be much worse than getting hit by a train. He lived through that so I dont think he commited suside.

Yo, you blame the prison? Who committed the crime in the first place to get sentenced to 18 years?

He commited the crime.I'm not trying to justify his crimes just alert people to the rehabilitation process in our prisons.Life changes alot in 18yrs we should prepare inmates for that.He was like a new born in a way.But whatever if it was your family maybe you would feel differently.Dont judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes!

Except a newborn doesn't have a record of 1st degree rape or murder.
Why should we prepare inmates for life on the outside. The money is better spent on those that don't break the law and need help. People aren't interested in rehabilitation of criminals. If you expect open arms and forgiveness no matter how long he served you are being naive.
Like I said before, I was on that train and I was inconvenienced for 4 fuking hours! That's how much I care about the rehabilitation of criminals.
