I am a new resident of Palmer. I am for a casino, but only if it is done correctly. A "fly-over ramp", which is currently being proposed, would not work.

There is already too much congestion coming off Exit 8 on the Turnpike. Placing a ramp right next to it would clog up traffic for miles.

A better solution would be for the casino to use the existing exit and build another one on the other side of Palmer for residents and local traffic.

No one considers the damage that will be done to the environment. Folks, this is 2008. Why are we in such a hurry to destroy one of the lovliest areas in Massachusetts with this rediculous casino? And why are people so accepting of something that is so disasterous to families and their financial stability? Gambling destroys lives, families and marriages. The only reason people want this so badly is because our jackass politicians have sent all our jobs abroad leaving us with only one option. I fail to see how a business that takes, takes, takes will ever be an economic engine for our region. We need our manufacturing back. The corporatocracy that runs this country has come up with the ultimate con: a business where all they need is a machine that people throw money into. They don't need to make anything. All they have to do is give just enough money back to keep people coming back to be suckered some more. It is pathetic.

Sad is the day when we look to quick fixes such as gambling resorts to solve employment problems. If this comes, I will go.
