"Hanover firefighters watch as Lady & Taylor Body Shop employees flip a freight truck that crashed on Frederick Street in Hanover Friday afternoon."
They must have alot of bodybuilding employees there. Nice of those firefighters to help them ladies out LOL

"Ashley Cutter, of Lady & Taylor Body Shop, clears some of the debris around the front axle that came off the truck that crashed Friday afternoon in Hanover."
The employees wear firefighter suits?

"I hope I'm not going to get fired. I hope I still have a job," Gardner said as he waited for his truck to be flipped.
Hate to tell ya, flip a truck reaching for a cell phone, close roads for over 2hrs, hit a wall and utility pole ummmmm 99% sure your gonna be UNemployed

accidents happen. but to be operating a commercial vehicle and wrecking as a result of reaching for a cell phone is no excuse for an accident. he should be fired. fortunately there were no fatalities, of his own or of innocent civilians.

Why in 2011 are people still reaching for their cell phones when bluetooth devices go for $50?!

If this is the first offense for this driver and he has no other conviction in the past seven years why not give him a second chance instead of throwing him "Under the Bus." I admit he should not have been reaching for his cell phone but the company should provide a blue tooth (For business purpose only) for all company drivers. How many of you ever reached for your cell phone or for that matter anything else you may have dropped while driving

leave the freakin' cell phone where you dropped it until you stop at a red light! I hope he gets fired. He could've killed someone.

because maybe some of us DO NOT have the extra $50 to get a blue tooth. And besides some people really look stupid wearing them.

What's the diference between reaching for a cell phone, turning on the radio, reaching for a cup of coffee, reaching to roll down the window? Get the point?? Probably not you!!

It is about time Pa makes using a hand held devices against the Law, even Maryland has. How many people have to be killed first? He could have killed someone just as easy as not. Drivers who do not think or don't like the look of a blue tooth should not be driving period. When are we going to hold people responsible for their actions?

Let's not forget the people who reach for a "bottle, pacifier, toy, blanket" for those with kiddies in the car.

What is this 25 mile an hour speed limit on this road? how fast was he going? This was completely senseless and could have been so much worse, yes he could have had some fatalities. Unbelievable!

It is time for ALL States to make handheld devices illegal. Maryland's law is a joke, only a secondary offence, you have to do something else wrong first. The problem is that you cannot replace common sense with laws. I drive tractor-trailer for a living and always use a bluetooth, do not talk on phone when in traffic or bad weather. No call is that important to maybe have an accident. The cell phone companies could put a lockout device that will not let you use your phone while moving. People today have to make calls for no reason, they just think they have to talk to everyone. It is time for people to stop using their phones while driving. No call is that important that you may kill yourself or some other person.

99.9% of us are guilty of using cell phones while driving,we just diddn't have a accident yet.Until laws are put into affect and enforced there is no reason to blame anybody.Let the company the truck driver works for decide what to do with his employment there.

If I were this man's employer I would terminate him. He destroyed an expensive vehicle and his company is on the hook for all damages. The company's insurance premiums will be affected for years to come. But the main reason would be the potential existed that he could have killed someone walking along the street or parked at the curb. Sorry about his fate, but you can't wait until the driver kills someone to take action.

They should make it a law for car manufacturers to do something as in once your key is in the ignition it shuts off all cell phones and computers ect. Don't know how they would do it but NOBODY needs to be talking on a cell phone messing with a computer ect. while driving.
What did we do 20yrs ago when 99% of us did not have cell phones..ohh look we all survived--what a suprise.
My life and/or someone's life is not as important as a phone call or text. I have a family to take care of and a family that loves me--I try hard not to meet my maker any sooner then I have to. My cell phone is shut off while I drive.
