Heard the Livingston Enterprize published a story in todays edition saying The SWAT TEAM is being sued for the death of the man that was shot in his bed in the Mountain Area.
Does anyone know if Sheriff Melton or Police Chief Etheridge are named in the suit?
Will all members of the Swat Team that entered that home be named in the suit?
Thanks , no opinion here just unable to get a paper but I thought this is one situation that wont get sweep under the rug when this happened last summer.

Since its not going to be swept under the rugs , the facts can come out IF they havent already dont you think? Nothing wrong with that but anyone will tell you that this needs an outside investigation.

Etheredge had nothing to do with it so why would he be named?

And Yes.
WB Melton, John Mackie, and the rest of the entire swat team are being sued for what they did.

I guy pointing a gun at you doesn't make it necessary? I'm sure you wouldn't defend yourself either if you were in that position right?

i believe this could have went in a different way anyone being abrubtly awakend out of of a deep sleep couldnt have had enough time to process what was going on especially in a dark room with flashlights in your eyes seems to me they didnt give the guy near a chance to surrender peacefully why couldnt they have had the wife to wake him or have waited outside the bedroom door while announcing their precence allowing him the appropriate time to gather his bearings it still didnt say in the artical whether or not he did in fact have a gun in his hands i dont have anything against wb but we all know how hard nosed he can be i dont blame law enforcement for being cautios but i do believe from what i know bout the situation they went about it alil too aggressivly i hope the family does win their suit

I think serving a warrant at 1:30 A.M. was the 1st mistake.Might not of need SWAT team if done in the daylight.

The reason they wouldnt wait was because we have a dumba>> for a sheriff and deputies. This should have never happened. I know Ron and his wife and they are good people. This should have been handled very differnt. Wb is such a sob he cant even get his story straight to were he was when the shooting took place. As far as the deputy John Mackie who shot the guy he shouldnt even have been on the job with the troube he has been in. The Calvette guy that got all this started he gets whatever he wants from the cops, cause he is a snitch everyone knows this. The cops are going to protect him cause he does such a great job for them. Whatever he wants he gets. Wb has covered so much up in this shooting. If anyone doesnt belive how the cops didnt do anything wrong, just talk to Rons wife. It is such a sad story. They had no right to put her in cuffs and make her sit there while they murdered her husband. These deputies and Wb should all have been facing charges in court for murder. How many calls have you heard them go on bout maybe someone with a gun and they didnt bring a swat team in for them. Wb thinks he and his guys are above the law. I hope Abby and Rons kids win so big in this case. It is a sad day when a drug dealer like calvette has the cops in his pockett like he does and can get anyone he dont like rid of. She begged wb to let her bring him down to the jail the next morning and he wouldnt let her cause he such an asshol<<. I dont see how the cops can even look at themselfs in mirror. Hope Ron gets some justice.

they serve a warrant at 1:31 am.
they detained his wife, and went into his bedroom, they reported they he fired first but after the initial examination they only found the shots fired by John Mackie. They told the papers their side of the story, and slowly but surely investigators trickled out the actual details.

The investigators details make what the members of the swat team say appear as lies. No shot from Rob Eibel has been found thusfar, and the story the Sheriff is giving does not match with the stories the deputies are giving (for one, Melton said he was outside, but still say what happened... the dude can see through walls?).

This is going to end badly, i have heard that she is considering relocating until all of this is over because she is already being harassed in the community.

It should tell you the heart of this woman that she has refused byoffs that are more than some people around here make in a decade... because she wants justice.

TBI cleared them. No win for these folks.
When TBI says good shooting then it a GOOD SHOOTING.
Thants just the way it is here.
No direspect to the folks but all they may get is a settlement just to keep the county out of a court case.

I don't know about you folks but I like the idea of living somewhere that law enforcement doesn't allow my neighbors to march in front of my house with a deer rifle nude and threaten to kill me. They actually come out to speak with the person. Now when that person pulls a weapon on the officers and is shot it's on that person, not the officers when it goes wrong.

I don't think a swat team coming through your house in the middle of the night is how you approach someone to "talk" to them. Why was the wife detained if they were there to simply "talk"? If they find where the victim shot first or even pulled a gun with the intent to shoot then they did what they had to do. But there is alot of talk swirling around that that isnt what happened. Maybe the truth will come out. Just because the TBI has ruled the shooting a good shooting that has nothing to do with this lawsuit. OJ was found not guilty by a jury for murder of 2 people But then found guilty in a wrongful death suit brought at later date. Not picking sides here just hoping the justice system works and the truth will play out in the end.

true but from what ive heard bout this calvette guy from numerous different people causes me to question his credebility i know ive had crazy neighbors in the past i would like to know that the law would give me CHANCE to tell my side of things and ive also heard alot of things about mackey prior and since this incodent and as far as the tbi they are gonna agree with any officer that reports that they felt their life was endangered look at the guy in nashville he was unarmmed but the difference in the two shootings the guy in nashville had a chance to surrender again asleep in your bed armed or not your awakened in the dark with only flashlights in your face how could you have had enough time to realize who it was i go to bed all the time with a pistol on my nightstand its not illeagal i do hope the truth comes out some day cause something just doesnt feel right

#1 There was no damn SWAT team. You people obviously cannot read.
#2 I'm certain he would have had an opportunity to tell his side if he hadn't opened fire.

I'd like to put some of you clowns in the position of those deputies and see how well you handled it. They went home at the end of the night. Bad guy with gun who fired at officers was shot. If this had been a TV show everyone here would be saying the cops acted justly but because it's real life you cheer for the would be cop killer. Nice.

Hopefully you folks will never need the police you so obviously despise.
