When you hear about the fact that the U.S. has more inmates per capita than almost any other country.... that's why. Because in other countries they just shoot them rather than arrest them, try them and house them.... all much, MUCH more expensive than a bullet or two.

Put me down in favor of saving the tax payer's money.

MCALL HATES WOMEN. You won't say the race of a suspect but you sure will name the gender when it's a FEMALE trooper that gets hurt. can't just be A TROOPER HURT during traffic stop.

I'm sure lots of officers receive lots of minor injuries every day. And while I appreciate the fine work they do, I don't see why this is news.

Was it necessary to run the trooper's sex in the headline? Unless the editor is trying to make a point with which most posters here apparently agree.

What an interesting day for whomever is constructing today's headlines.

I'm not a fan of cops, or of female officers,,, but it sounds like she did a good job. Too bad she was injured, and hope she has a quick recovery.

It seems funny to me that some people on here (i assume all men) have some not so nice things to say since this officer was a female but i couldn't imagine half the male cops I've met being able to chase a suspect down on foot...who cares if this officer was a male or female, they did their job and did it well. Nice work!

I hope she followed Sean Connery's advice to Kevin Costner/ Eliot Ness in "The Untouchables", and that he's hurt a whole lot worse than she is ! Maybe he ran into a tree - or stepped into a groundhog hole - or tripped over a branch - or slipped on a rock - or tumbled down the hill - he was drunk, you know ...

Yeah, drunk NY scum, at 4:15 PM in the afternoon, when kids are coming home from school, and I'm out on the road, too. 5 years for that and 5 years for assaulting a trooper, no parole or time off.
