The young person who accidentally shot the young man in Monroe is actually a very sweet person. It is a sad thing that this happened, but do we condemn this person by calling them a juvenile? A juvenile in my opinion is a young person with a history of offenses in and out of school. Why do we do this to the youngsters who go to school, make good grades and participate in extra curricular activities. It was a mistake that I know will taunt this person the rest of her life. Give it a break!!!

You're confusing the word "juvenile" with the phrase "juvenile delinquent". Below is the Webster definition of juvenile which simply means "young person".

My condolences to all surviving loved ones. No sadder tragedy exists than the premature death of a young person.

Main Entry:
juvenile
Function:
noun

1 a: a young person : youth b: a book for children or young people2: a young individual resembling an adult of its kind except in size and reproductive activity:

It really was a sad situation for both parties. It will hunt both families for the rest of there lives. My prayers goes out to both the Cobyn(family) and the accuser (family).

My heart goes out to both the Coby and the accuser. I am sure if the shooter could take back what was done, she would. Both families are in my prayers.

Calling someone a juvenile is not demeaning, calling them a juvenile delinquent may be. A juvenile is a young person and there is nothing derogatory about being called young.
