It came out that Howey Farms is wanting to build a bigass Grain Drying Tower somewhere between the college entrance and Forest Hills Road. Like that's what we need around here-Hell no! We've got more than our share of unsafe truck drivers around here and now they are going to send more here to haul grain. It's just a matter of time before a bigass truck runs into a car and kills somebody. Those grain truck drivers are just as bad as pulpwood truck drivers. I hope the highway patrol camps out in Wingate and stops every frigging one of them. I know some people who live in that area and they are worried that their property values are going to go down. When it came before the planning board 3 voted to ok it and 2 against. Of the 3 that voted for it one has big trucks in his business so they ought to throw his vote out. He might be getting some business either from building the tower or when its built sending his drivers out to haul grain. The college ought to be raising hell too.

Why on this end of the county? Why not in Waxhaw or Weddington close to where Howey lives. We've already got more than our share of big trucks and stinking agricultural smells. Let Howey have some on the side of the county where he lives. The trucks roaring through Marshville and Wingate make traveling on 74 bad anyway. Putting a grain bin where some of those trucks have to slow down and make a turn into or out of the facility is just going to make 74 more dangerous for the rest of us.
I always say follow the money to find out why people on the planning board vote the way they do. Phillip Austin is a big supporter. Wonder why? could it be that it's close to his land and he's got a trucking business? My wife and Ella Hargett voted for it and they are both dizzy so that explains their ineptitude.
We don't need this! It will lower our real estate values even more.

The only person who will get a positive out of this will be Frank Howey. The Wingate-Marshville area will not get anything positive from it. The negatives Wingate will get are:
1. Odor from the tower and potentially dangerous gases
2. Unsightly and unattractive appearance of the tower which will be so tall that it will be seen for miles
3. It will create dangerous traffic because trucks will have to stop, turn, cross traffic and maneuver to get in and out of the tower property
4. It will lower the value of already distressed property values in the Wingate-Marshville area.

Think about this: When the western part of Union County (where Frank Howey lives) doesn't want something where does it go?
They send their garbage to the County Landfill near WINGATE
They send their sewage to the sewage treatment plant near WINGATE
They send their prisoners to the jail near WINGATE
They send their unwanted pets to be killed near WINGATE
Someone please tell me why WINGATE has to have all the bad stuff? It's time for the town council to grow a flippin' BACKBONE

Ella Hargett did not vote for it Tom Crook did.
