i lived on Albain Rd - 1/2 mile west of Telegraph. The Full Tilt Boogie Ballroom was located approx 2 miles south of Albain Rd. It had been the Floral City Skating Rink - I don't remember if it was used for another purpose between the skating rink and ballroom. It burned down (I believe on July 12,, 1973) Check the Monroe Evening News archive for that. I also believe Ted Nugent and Bob Seger both played there- and possibly Question Mark and the Mysterions 96 Tears). I graduated from high school in '73 and had been hired by Ford Moror Co - Rawsonville and was returning home that day and say the smoke from 15 miles away. It was a brick walled building with a semi circle roof that was coverd in tar and tar paper. It had a wood floor on the inside (at least it did when it was a skating rink).

I saw Suzie Quatro and Mike Quatro (they had separate bands) there in I believe 1972.I was only 14 and it was the wildest day of my life.Between that,Alice Cooper and other Hard Rock concerts at Cobo hall and the ocasional Thursday night bash at the Lincolin Park theater(they piped rock and roll through the theaters speakers and played campy B movies on the screen in the backround),I had a wild teenaged life back in Detroit.

I also grew up on Albain Road about 1/2 mile west of Telegraph. I remember that fire. A friend and I rode our motorcycles out there the next day and the sign out front said Bob Seger was scheduled to play there. You used to drive a Dodge Satelite didn't you?

Yes, I lived on Albain Rd as well just past Keegan Rd so it was quite a walk in the winter, but well worth it for all the good music we saw there at the FTB!My brother and I were out west for the summer when we heard about the fire and we were GUTTED!! Was judt a magic time for us as well as being the cheapest guitar lessons we could ever hope for (assuming we could remember what we saw by the time we got home!!) Must be a lot more memories out there, let's hear em cheers from Maldon Essex, England

I recently acquired a pair of old roller skates and case at auction. The case has a floral city sticker on it and inside there is a black and white picture of the outside of the rink/building!! pretty cool

Didn't the floor move as the crowd jumped up and down to the music? I remember being packed in like sardines in a place called Full Tilt Boogie Ballroom, but I was only 16 and I thought it was in Fremont, Ohio.

I am enjoying the memories of The Club in Monroe, MI. I was co-owner along with James Cirque. It opened August 12, 1966 and featured artists whom went on to be super stars like Bob Seger, Ted Nugent (Amboy Dukes), SRC. Local talent included Tom Treece (Caesar and the Romans), The Avengers, The Chevrons. It was a great time to be young!
Now living in Florida with my bride of 46 years.
Thanks for the memories!

Boogie ball room. I saw ted nugent and rockin regi .it did have wood floors. It was an old roller rink the floor was on springs. so when you skated the hole floor moved. Samething when ted played the whole place was moving. Sat in folding chairs. The place was rockin. I lived in romulus at the time.now in florida with my wife of 37 years. Thanks for memories.

Hard to believe it was a roller rink. From what i remember, it seemed alot smaller than that. Ted Nugent was incredible there. My ears are still ringing.

If anyoe is interested, you could contact the LaSalle Fire Dept. for a cpy f a picture of the "Ballroom" burning in 1973.To this day it is the only known photo that exists of the 1973 fire. I have seen that picture many times. also, Tom Treece writes a column for the Evening News. Tommay have som eold pictures or two.

worked with a band: Asian Flu ... it was The Club. seems that almost every detroit /michigan band played there. they opened for the James Gang show there. They got booked all over from meeting Seeger's manager there. Loved booging to Wilson Mower Pusuit there many times.

full tilt was so different, the club was a teenage _dance_ club.
the ballroom was a concert venue. another band I worked with opened for the 5 there and saw Iggy get into trouble on stage during his show there.
