It saddens me to see parents encourage their childrens defiance. There are rules and dress codes in the work force and if I were to defy them I would be punished accordingly. Lincoln PArk school district (especially the high school) has gotten an "F" grade each year from the state. That should be the parents main concern. I see the kids walking to school smoking cigarettes and barely carrying any books. PArents should ecourage their kids to follow rules otherwise they are raising adult trouble makers. Encourage them to fight for meaningful things that will benefit their life-education, racism not clothes. They can wear their other clothes when school is out or on the weekend.

People seem to have a difficult time policing themselves, such as with cell phones while driving, smoking in public, and yes what clothing they wear.

Wearing what you like does not mean you get a free pass to allow your body parts to hang out, or otherwise cause a distraction from the main purpose for being there.
Some little thug sporting his gold chains and $200 shoes with his ass hanging out, or some girlie allowing her hoohaws to flop all over the place does not lend itself to promoting a quality learning environment.

Parents have little control and tend to over indulge their brats, so what has to happen is rules and regulations.
People can't seem to figure out that yacking on a phone while driving is unsafe to others, so what has to happen is more rules and regulations.
People who stink up a restaurant and cause second hand health dangers to others are a nuisance and what has to happen are yet even more rules and regulations.

Peoples lack of self control draw a great deal of attention to themselves and their behaviors, and because of that rules and regulations are imposed.

People bring it on themselves!

I do not see this as an infringement on the 1st Amendment. Just my opinion.
I do think the number of items not allowed in the dress code goes too far. I understand some of the items, but others should be allowed.
I live next to Lincoln Park, and see the schools. I am relieved that I don't have to send my children there. This is a school system that has failed. This is also a community that has failed. Instead of going through the proper channels and getting the rules changed, these parents (the community) are encouraging their kids to break the rules, and are also interrupting their kids education. This is the real problem. I am sure the kids have their own opinions on the code, but I assure you that the elementary children have no idea what is really going on and see it as a way to impress their parents.
The school system didn't give parents early enough noticifation on the new policy. The schools should have taken that into consideration. Clothes are not cheap, and buying a new school wardrobe is a considerable expense. Parents should also stop playing into their kids vanity. I believe too many parents buy clothes that are not appropriate for any occasion, let alone school.
I grew up in Downriver Michigan my entire life and could someone please tell me when White Lake Michigan became geographically possible to be next to Lincoln Park, as far as this entire dress code debate... there are far too many things more important than this

First you took god out of the schools. Then you took the flag out. Next you assasinated common sense. How rediculous!!! I wore a uniform when I was in school, but the administraiton would have cut some slack for sonething like this. When Kruschev said we will bury you, perhaps it was truly prophetic. Thank God my parents left Michigan when they did.
Kruschev never said 'we will bury you', it was a mistranslation. Krushchev said 'We will outlast you'

Lincoln Park DOES need a dress code, the kids are acting like they're in Detroit nowadays. I'm in Lincoln Park and its a piece of trash city where even the whites think they're black criminals and this place should be wiped off of the map along with the other criminal neighborhoods around here. I am moving out of here in 3 months anyway to a whiter place. You idiots can murder each other for all I care.
