If I must say, I believe the judge made a terrible mistake. 10-15 years is unreasonable for the simple fact she feared for hers and her families lives. The fact that Scottie's family had all called the cops on him for domestic violence, assault and battery, etc..then turned around & told the judge what a wonderful person he was, was very two-faced. I'm glad her attorneys are appealing.

It just sounds to pre meditated. It would be one thing if he showed up causing a dispute but she called him there to shoot him. ASSUMING the news paper report is accurate.

Time and again I see and hear accounts of abusive relationships like this. The victim of the abuse can never get full protection from the law from the Scott Gibsons of the world. And eventually the Gibson sterotype ends up killing the abusee. I truly believe that if Melissa hadn't killed Scott that he would have murdered not only one, but many of the Davis family. I think that the Judge's decision was very harsh. I am very disappointed in his decision.

I know both people involved, grew up with Scotty, and lived in the same neighborhood with Mellisa (her son was 2 years younger than me).

Scotty, though a friend of mine in my younger years, was a terrible burden to this sweet soft-spoken woman. Earlier in the night she shot him he had told her that he was going to burn her house down while she and her family were sleeping.

You see, Scotty had dated Melissa's daughter, and (after being beaten severely by him several times) had decided to leave him for good. Well, Scotty wasn't going to take that for an answer, no one was leaving HIM. He continually threatened the entire family. I've seen Melissa in tears MY SELF over his threats.

This is a travesty of justice, but in my opinion BOTH Judge Costellos deliver such travesties on a regular basis.

YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT!!! SCOTTY WAS MY BESTFRIEND, & I LOVE HIM WITH ALL MY HEART.. SERENITY IS NOT A F*CKING ANGEL HERSELF, & I'VE WATCHED HER HIT SCOTTY ON MANY OCCASIONS MYSELF!! SO I DONT CARE HOW LONG YOU'VE BEEN FRIENDS WITH ANYONE, SCOTTY LEFT REN, & EVERYTIME SHE WOULD COME BACK!!! YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE JUDGE NOT BEING FAIR, BECAUSE HOW MELISSA KILLED HIM WAS 1ST DEGREE PRE METATED MURDER!!! SHE SHOULD SPEND THE REST OF HER LIFE IN PRISON, & SERENITY SHOULD BE TOO, FOR BEING A LYING A$$ B*TCH!!! SHE LIED ON THE STAND AND GOT CAUGHT SO MANY TIMES, SO UNLESS YOU WERE AT THE HEARING LIKE I WAS, AND WITH SCOTTY EVERYDAY, THEN YOU REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT UR TALKING ABOUT!!! IM SORRY I DONT KNOW YOU, BUT I FEEL THAT WITH HOW GOOD OF A PERSON SCOTTY WAS TO ME & MY WHOLE FAMILY, THAT SOMEONE HAS TO TELL HOW HE REALLY WAS!!! HE ALWAYS RESPECTED EVERYONE, AND HE GAVE EVERYONE A CHANCE TO BE HIS FRIEND!! HE WAS MY ONE ONLY TRUE LOVE, & IT BROKE MY HEART TO LOSE HIM!!! SCOTTY WAS A VERY STRONG GUY, BUT HE HAD A HEART OF GOLD!! AND I REALLY DONT THINK YOU, OR ANYONE ELSE WOULD HAVE THE BALLS TO SAY HALF THE SH!T YOUR SAYING RIGHT NOW TO HIS FACE IF HE WAS STIIL ALIVE!!! IT MUST BE NICE TO BE ABLE TO TALK BAD ABOUT HIM NOW THAT HE'S GONE... I BET YOU WOULD NOT SAY IT TO HIS FACE IF HE WAS STILL HERE!! BUT IF YOU DID I CAN CAN TELL YOU, YOU'LD BE WAKING UP ABOUT 15 MINUTES, AFTER HE KNOCKED YOU OUT!!! BUT KEEP TALKING ABOUT DEAD PEOPLE IF THATS WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOUR LIFE... IM SURE YOU'LL NEVER EVEN BE HALF THE MAN SCOTTY WAS!!! PEOPLE LIKE YOU PISS ME OFF!!!

but you dont know him and you dont know her i knew them both scottie was a very good person and no he would have never hurt her family yes he did have a bad temper sometimes but who doesn't when someone pisses you off you get mad right thats all he ever did and if you look up the facts you will see that all the people he ever did harm at all were men and they all had it coming. i can't even get into the details it's to much but i can assure you that ren was no angel did anyone ever tell you about the time she sat on his lap with her fat ass and was smiling like everything was good and then out the blue just started punching him in his face. she hit him another time just for being with his friends and family getting drunk. that same day she tried to punch my friend and she's known scottie her whole life and was just hanging out. but ren was always so jealous over him. and she was that kinda girl that likes to start shit between people just to watch them duke it out. so if you ask me what i think and i'm entitled to say this because like i said before unlike you i knew them both and i say melissa should have got the damn chair because she took a good man out of this world and it's not her place to do so.

if he was such a good man, why did his family call the cops on him for domestic violence, assult and battery,ect... have u ever been abused or been threathen by an abuser, u might have an different out look then. 2 wrongs don't make a right, but if u are ever abused then u will know. he was only a good man to those it didn't matter too. like u said he would of knocked him out. NOT AN ABUSER
