.. oh, be sure to wear the Bella canary yellow shear costume Friday and come prepared for the HL experience. I'll meet you in the tent behind the Holy Church of Catcher. Bring pillows ..
This reminded me of a neighbor I had once...she was a professional stripper. To make this short...I was the only friend she had in the neighborhood. They too are shunned by the Christian community!(I still called myself a Christian at that point...as you have probably figured out...I didn't make a very good one!)

She knocked on my door one day and asked if I could come over and help her...I said "sure". When I got there...she needed help picking out some costumes for work...I thought..."oh...okay ". We poured through tons of catalogs looking for just the "right" one.

I was still naive and innocent at that point in life...but we are to "love thy neighbors" and "lend a helping hand"...so I got my first introduction to "dance costumes"...I learned a lot!

She danced in the world famous "Printer's Alley" in Nashville...at the time it was filled with music...dance...and a little of everything else...kind of a "Bourbon Street" atmosphere.

I will never forget my first trip there. I was very young at the time...trying to make my way in a man's business world. One day I had clients in town to entertain...they asked to go to Printer's Alley...LOL...they had no idea that I was so innocent (still Christian at the time)...oh well...THEY had a great time!

My friend was a sweet girl...I think she did what she did because of her husband...he was her manager??? She just needed a friend...to be liked...to be accepted. I think about her often...wondering what happened to her after she got beyond the "prime" for stripping.

Long before I was ordained (by HL, in a ceremony involving scarves of course), I spent a year in Amsterdam. Two of my neighbors were prostitutes, who practiced their trade on the street nightly. They were considered respectable citizens by everybody, and became my friends.

A warm welcome to all of the parishioners.

Not sure what the "prime age" is for erotic dancing. My friend just turned 40 and she is better looking and more of an entertainer than many of the younger dancers.

You think candy will be cheaper before Halloween or after?

.. my command? Write a poem to welcome Hatti and Sue ..
Up in the watchtower, I question my task...
all alone with myself and my empty old flask...
thirsty and hungry and barely awake...
beginning to regret my misguided mistake...
I look to the north, and then to the west...
and mindlessly fetch the flask from my vest...
the weightlessness putting more weight on my chest...
there's nobody coming, was this just a test...
in desperation, I set my gaze east...
nobody there either, no surprises at least...
behind me is the south, do I have hope to turn...
when I see the empty landscape, will I finally learn...
she sent me to wither, to crumble and fall...
but I will look south before losing it all...
as my position rotates my eyes do the same...
I nearly fall over when I see that they came...
two shadowy figures approach with arms waving...
I nearly forget that it's them that needs saving...
they must have been walking and walking for miles...
as they get ever closer I see their warm smiles...
then I remember my job, my mission, my task...
I stand to ring the bell, dropping my old flask...
I welcome the travelers, because that's why I do...
welcome to our sanctuary, Hatti and Sue.

HL, go easy on the scarves.
Susan, how is your "new" life going?
Hey Catcher! Love your new church.

I've had a really horrible cold that just turned into a sinus infection so until I feel better, I won't be posting much. Blechh...

Greetings, everyone! HL invited me to stop in. I see several familiar faces as well a many new ones as well. Hopefully I can both reconnect with old and make new friends.

And while this cyber sanctuary may not be a traditional church, I'd still like to light a small votive in remembrance of a Topix poster whom I admired a great deal and who passed away about a year ago: The Golem.

JUNKER!!{{{hugs}}}

Long time, no see. Hope you've been well. I used to pop into the No Longer a Christian thread once in a while to check up on you and saw some crazed lunatic harassing you about hurting someone. You always seem to attract the stalkers. Speaking of which, did R1 ever give up?

I think they only wear overalls there...with no t-shirt underneathe! They are hot!!!

KY is where I learned not to wear shoes.

I was born in Paducah and raised in the backwoods not far from there. Do you know where Livingston County is? That's my homeplace. I am just a country girl at heart...but I don't want to live there again. There area has not changed much...about 20 years behind the times. It is still racist...biggoted...and "oldtime religious". I don't fit in there any more.

Now put your pants on...much better to let one ponder what lies beneath! LOL
