I kept seeing ads for this restaurant and decided to go. The place itself looked nice and modern but the decor doesn't make you come back a second time. We each had a cup of gumbo for an appetizer and it was pretty good, not the best but good. They didn't have salt and pepper shakers on the tables and they didn't even own any because someone asked for salt and they brought it out in an espresso cup. They also didn't have Tabasco or Tony's when someone asked for that. My 16oz ribeye was awful, the cut of the meat was so bad. It was so tough that my knife would barely cut it and it shook the table! And even the seasoning on it wasn't anything impressive. My dogs were very happy that night when I got home with their doggie bag! My steak came with fries which the waitress did not bring out with my steak, said she'd have it out soon and about 20 minutes or so later I called her over and she had forgotten about them, she disappeared for awhile and finally came back with my fries, that the menu called them something fancy like Frites and they were just straight cut fries out of a frozen bag from the grocery store, nothing special. Oh and the ladies room never had any soap in the soap dispenser, we were there early too, around 6pm, so I know it wasn't because it had gotten all used up from the dinner rush. They serve their tea and water in wine glasses which is fine if your waitress pays attention to when you need a refill (which is often when you have a small wine glass and then have it filled with ice and then put a little drink in it). Our waitress hardly ever checked on us. We had to get another waitress to help us several times. And they had too few menu options. We won't be back.

I have eaten there a few times and I think it is a great place to eat.

People who complain about restaurants usually have severe personal problems that they cannot face, so they resort to complaining about restaurant food or restaurant service.

Foodie not pleased --- please get some counseling and quit trashing Monroe's eateries.

The only bubble to bust is yours. I have no financial interest in the restaurant. I do not know anybody who works in the restaurant, nor do I know any of the owners.

Pizza Guy, do you not understand the meaning of the word 'review'? It is where one person gives their opinion of something. Not where you give your opinion of someone else's opinion. Lord forbid we all not think exactly alike or exactly like you do! I'm quite sure there are restaurants that you hate but that I love and I am completely capable of dealing with that. People are different and are entitled to their own opinion. I don't know why you are so worried about my opinion. Good grief!!! I'm sure there a lots of people who liked the place. Maybe they had a better waiter or ordered something different or went on a different night or brought their own soap. haha! This was my experience and no matter what you say it will STILL be MY experience. Of course everyone has different experiences at the same place. I myself have been to a restaurant and had a not so good meal and then two weeks later gone back and had it be just fine. It's just that in this case a lot of things were not right in my opinion and so I choose not to go back again. You and anyone else are free to go as many times as you like and feel free to come on here and post your fabulous experience online and you won't get any crazy remarks about it from me. Just get over it! And move on to the next thing!

You asserted that I was an owner or relative of the owner of this particular restaurant. "Move on" sounds good to me.

My favorite place to eat in Monroe used to be Crescent City Connection or something similar, but I think that they are defunct.

I'd not take this review seriously, as he/she has the exact same review under a different name in another site. Sounds like the competition's getting VERY WORRIED!! The place is GREAT!! Check it out!

The restaurant brings an atmosphere to Monroe that it has been missing. An outdoor space with a quiet quaint atmosphere. I look forward to the summer jazz and an evening with friends. I do caution Austin to protect the space from lingering employees in uniform. Keep the space open and inviting to guests and other newbees. THe food is as good as it gets. Fresh but not unique.

Outdoor spaces might be nice for spring or fall, but in the summer, most Monroe people will go for an air-conditioned space.

Recently I took family and friends to Austins Bistro and we all had a wonderful evening! It was our first time and not to be the last!
The food was delicious --- we all had something different. Wine was perfect! We all really enjoyed the ambience ------ and loved the architecture of the converted house. The bar is very cool and the patio is an amazing space - a great spot for parties and events....ok not in the heat!
A total terrific experience for all of us.

Looks like foodie not please is right pizza guy. I live in BR and ran across the property for sale. Being auctioned off!!! Must not have been real good good. By the reviews is how other people are able to know other experiences and what to expect. But you say negative restaurant reviews are only from people with serious personal issues?? That's absurd, I depend on them. Looks like a lot of people in Monroe did too!!
