I will say in their defense that the people who pull these scams are very good at what they do. they're quick with their words and actions and before you realize whats going on you've been had. when I was younger and living in CA. I had many experiences with quick change artists. It's really quite impressive to watch them and you have to be on your toes or they'll get ya!

I wouldn't think it takes too quick of thinking though, I mean come on... if you are in the check out line you are PURCHASING something, which means you already HAVE money. I don't think I would have been so easily fooled by that line and my drawer would have been closed rather quickly when their hands reached for my money in my drawer. If they wanted to look at money they could have looked at the money they intended to pay for their items with.

These "Europeans" check out the cashiers & know which ones they can pull a scam on. About 20 years ago, I was working at a Marshalls. We had an older woman cashier that the Gypsys targetted. We always put her on a register directly under the Security office window so she could be watched. I don't know why store management kept her working on a register but they did.

As I said before, these scam artists know which cashiers are vulnerable.

Why would they need to see the money in the cash drawer? What were they using to pay for their own purchases? I know, they weren't there to buy anything.
