You are right that it is about public safety. Cowards like you hide behind the armed gun owner then challenge us, call us criminals, and wish to punish us for the actions of others on mind altering drugs and committing crimes.
You are safe because criminals are not sure who is armed. Or do you have a sign in front of your house and on your car stating you are not armed?
You have hit the proverbial nail on the head. The anti-gun homophobes are getting extremely mad and worried. With more and more gun owners taking their personally security into their own hands, those who refuse to do so are becoming bigger and bigger targets to the criminals, because criminals hate an armed resistance.

His opinion;
"The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes..."
"The Amendment’s prefatory clause announces a purpose, butdoes not limit or expand the scope of the second part, the operativeclause. The operative clause’s text and history demonstrate that itconnotes an individual right to keep and bear arms..."
In making reference to the Miller case in volving a short-barreled shotgun;
"It is entirely clear that the Court’s basis for saying that the Second Amendment did not apply was not that the defendants were “bear[ing] arms” not “for ... military purposes” but for “nonmilitary use,” post, at 2. Rather, it was that the type of weapon at issue was not eligible for Second Amendment protection:“In the absence of any evidence tending to show that the possession or use of a [shortbarreled shotgun] at this time has some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia, we cannot say that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear such an instrument.” 307 U. S., at 178 (emphasis added).“Certainly,” the Court continued,“it is not within judicial notice that this weapon is any part of the ordinary military equipment or that its use could contribute to the common defense.”
Keep these words in mind....“Certainly,” the Court continued,“it is not within judicial notice that this weapon is any part of the ordinary military equipment or that its use could contribute to the common defense.”
I do believe that the so called "assault weapon" DOES fit this exact concern of the court. Is the "assault weapon" any part of the ordinary military equipment....or could the "assault weapon" contribute to the common defense...? The answer to both of those questions is yes.
EXCELLENT !!!!

Muskets in the Constitution?

Based on the definition of a moron, there are many more 8-12 year olds that have more common sense than some of the gun control advocates on here. So I'll take the attempted jab as not as bad as you seem to think.

I have quite a nice life but thanks for the suggestion.

Did violent video game Call of Duty spark gun-crazed loner's killing spree?
Nope.

He also watched Sesame Street as a kid.

Maybe that was it?

Most people understand the reason those 27 women and children died in Connecticut was the killer had an assault weapon with massacre magazines and he went in and had the tool that was designed to kill lots of people quickly.

The children were shot ten and eleven times each, turning them into hamburger.

Yet the cowards at NRA want to blame video games.

Americans have had enough of you and your special rights.

WASHINGTON – Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said Sunday that there “undoubtedly are” limits on the second amendment’s right to bear arms but that these must be limitations that were viewed as reasonable at the time the U.S. Constitution was written.
