There was an article in the paper a few weeks ago rating Ringgold high school better than any in the area including Belle Vernon and Elizabeth. I am not surprised. I know that many of the teachers are excellent. Congratulations and keep up the great work.

Wasn't that article written by Ringgold's press secretary?

No it was not. I think it is time that this area begins to support the district. Why is it that when there is a positive someone needs to find a negative. There are so many good things happening in our district. Our youth our so important.

I do agree there are many excellent teachers..there are also some not so excellent, as with any school district. With that being said..The school board and the administration leave alot to be desired.

..Who wrote the article? Was the information based on facts or opinion? I would love to read it.

The test scores there are rising rapidly because of the many changes. They got a bad rap in the past due to how test scores were weighted not to mention the cheating that ocurred by other schools. All school boards are challenged. The system is outdated and boards have taken on way too much power. Just look at the problems in BVA.

..The problems were not all due to poor test scores...and as far as the cheating remark goes, grow up! I live in the Ringgold School District and graduated from Ringgold..not that it is something to brag about. This School District has some major issues starting with all the nonsense that went on over the buildings and the relocation of the students!

the 2011 graduating class had the highest 11th grade PSSA scores in the history of the school.....Sure, the teachers deserve some kudos...But that graduating class is extremely intelligent and will probably yield many adults who do great things with their lives...

I see the elementary-aged children didn't fare so well..How unfortunate since that level of learning is such an important part of education.

While Ringgold personnel will deny this, the main objective to combining the middle schools and elem schools (closing Carrol and DEC) is that the PSSA scores from one bldg instead of two will allow the district to level out the scores and give the district a better chance of meeting the minimum requirements.

...All the districts listed, including Ringgold, are about even..which unfortunately means not one is better than the other right now. Look it up.

RHS did not rank better on the elementary education level..that could put a real dent in the no child left behind!

That is true but they have made big changes1 to address this. It is just nice to see rhs doing so well. I think the district is on the right path. So many are quick to point out the shortcomings yet fail to give recognition when good things occur.

If you're happy as a parent with the education your child is receiving at Ringgold, then I guess that's all that matters. It's not a direct insult to you if someone has a different opinion.
