The old buildings are done. Anyone at this point thinks they are worth fixing to use as a school is not too sharp.

I'll vote for Maureen Ott for reelection. Hopefully the Smith Brothers can transition to retirement.

By the way, did you all know that SBD is a non paid position for Ringgold.

Not for long, they will work that into the budget for the new schools. By time we figure out what they are doing it will be grandfathered in. Just get rid of some of those teachers and hire security and paid board members. Those schools are nothing more than day care centers, why bother spending money on any teachers all, let alone the cheaper, bottom of their class ones. They can by more TVs for the classrooms and have it teach English to the Donora students and Spanish and Chinese to the rest of them. All of them will then qualify for work at McD's and Walmart.

Put the choice before us in terms everyone can relate to. You own 2 cars which are old and not running. You have the option to fix up both of these cars for $27,000. You will have to pay for gas, insurance, upkeep, maintenance, and all other items come with owning a car but at double the rate since there are 2 of them. The other option is to buy a new car for $28,000 that comes with a warranty, is new so won't require the same amount of money to maintain it, and will last many more years than either of the 2 old cars. You can also sell the 2 old ones to help offset the purchase price of the new one making it even cheaper to buy than fixing the 2 old ones.

Now who in their right mind would not buy the new car and get rid of the clunkers? It's simply common sense.

Now only if we could have a couple board members that actually have common sense this would be a done deal. Smith has already come to terms that DEC is done and he will only fight for MEC. Where is the public outcry of him changing his position? Will the Donora crowd still support him after he has chosen to toss them aside?

Be gone with the oh so foolish. The obvious choice is to spend millions upon millions on the two behemoth dinosaurs. Then spend hundreds of thousands on transportation to help out the poor oil companies. Lest we not forget it must be cheaper to heat two old buildings instead of one!!! Yet a larger staff to man two buildings will certainly help the unemployment figures especially since we will need maintenance and security now for two blds. Yet let us help our poor govenor because in renovating the state will not need to put out the dollars the it would otherwise need to on a new build. And think of all the new taxpayers that will rush to move here so there kids can be bused to two old patched up schools forty minutes away!!". Yes we must renovate so that the rich taxpayers of Ringgold can kick start the economy and the pockets of the board promising renovation contracts. We must renovate obviously the intelligent choice!!!

Mariann Bulko is not a newcomer..she has been on the board forever..voted in again and again by the tax-payers. I don't think the issue is who changed what position..the issue should be to make an informed decision next time you vote!
She has been voted in but has changed her mind so many times that the last board president claimed she was schizophrenic.

The funniest part of this whole conversation is that, like me, half of you idiots probably don't even go to meetings. You are all behind the screen opinionists. Typing away, thinking you all said something clever. Make a change, go pick up some garbage, take your elderly neighbor to the grocery store... no one will remember you for meaningless comments made on some stupid website. I am sorry I ever stumbled on to this site and I will never make that mistake again.

Anybody read Jim Dodd's letter to the editor in the Observer Reporter? Talk about fairy tales and "pie in the sky". The Board was planning on busing students from Nottingham and Union Township to Monongahela and Donora for middle school. Not exactly making them "community schools". Much like busing the kids from Carrol and Donora to Finley. Not a community school either. Here is my suggestion: renovate Finley, open a charter school in the Donora, Mec area to serve those students. Forget new schools or renovating hulks of buildings.
