IN CHINA WE ARE SPENDING 300 BILLION DOLLARS IN 3 YEARS ON A HIGH-SPEED, NATION-WIDE TRAIN NETWORK THAT IS RUNNING NOW IN SOME PLACES. AT A MINIMUM IT IS TWICE AS FAST AS A CAR, AND AT A MAXIMUM, THE SPEED IS 330 MPH. IT REALLY GOES.
Then why is China building a war machine?
China's military spending:
2009 - 15% growth from previous year.
2008 - 17.6% growth from previous year.
2007 - 17.8% growth from previous year.
Average 1996-2006 11% growth from previous year. <quoted text>
Why the huge increases? <quoted text>
Still no answer. Please try having a conversation instead of just parroting CCP propganda.

Why do you think the Chinese have been increasing thier military spending recently?

Obviously because tensions have risen between our countries, because of incidents in China's coastal waters, because of doubts about Taiwan, which has U.S.-supplied weapons, and most of all because OUR spending is ridiculously high.

Agree that we spend absurd amounts of money, more than the next dozen or so major nations combined. We are spending ourselves into the situation we forced on the Soviets, a complete economic collapse based on economic failure and military overspending.

Sad...

That is not as bad as spending $1 Trillion in US taxpayer money to have thousands of US troops killed looking for WMDs in Iraq

No, I agree, that's even more craziness and evil on top of the usual bad military practices. Absolutely horrific, wasn't it?

"Why do you think the Chinese have been increasing their military spending recently?"

THE HISTORY OF CHINA SAYS WE MUST PROTECT OURSELVES, FROM THE NORTH, FROM THE SOUTH, EAST AND WEST. AT ONE TIME THE THREAT WAS FROM THE NORTH, SO WE BUILT THE GREAT WALL, NOW, IT CAN COME FROM ANY DIRECTION.

THERE ARE 5 COUNTRIES WITH A SMALL CHANGE IN POLITICS CAN THREATEN CHINA, RUSSIA, JAPAN, FRANCE, BRITAIN AND THE UNITED STATES.

SO FOR THESE REASONS WE INCREASE OUT MILITARY SPENDING.

THE MANPOWER SIZE OF OUR MILITARY IS GOING DOWN BEING REPLACED BY TECHNOLOGY.

First, 40 other states didn't get the money either moron.
Second, The $400 Million is ALL Borrowed Money from China.
Third, The rail routes were not self supporting. They were going to LOSE MONEY!
Fourth, We don't need to make work just to add onto the Debt Burden.
Christie is doing what a leader should do. Obama could learn everything from someone that good.
I'm beginning to really enjoy having you make an ass of yourself. Here's a link showing the formula for obtaining this money, but also that 47 STATES HAVE ALREADY FILED THEIR PAPERWORK TO RECEIVE THEIR GRANTS - AND HAVE RECEIVED THEM!

http://edmoney.newamerica.net/blogposts/2010/...

You really are an idiot. By the way sh*t for brains, this money came out of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act stupid!

Many who have limited access from N.J. to N.Y. and vice-versa, in order to obtain work, would be greatly enhanced - also, the carbon footprint would subside by doubling the amount of rails going in and out of both N.Y and N.J. Less traffic, less congestion, equals less fuel bought, less Co2 emissions, and with expanded passengers, would in fact over time not only pay for itself, but generate operating capital for both N.Y and N.J.

Christie's an idiot - where's he going to make up for future revenue from dummy?

If he was so damn smart, his application for education funding, due Sept. 9th, would have made it in on time. One of only three obviously idiotic governor's to not get their paperwork in on time, and he wanted to blame Obama, just like you always do!

You and the rest of the tea party maggots deserve each other!

They will after all reap the benefit of all of those people commuting to New York and paying income tax and sales tax
New York stepped up with over 3.1 million dollars to make this a reality. The government stepped up with 2.9 million. Christie screwed the people of New Jersey - these were almost 6000 immediate construction jobs.

THIS IS WHAT'S NEEDED RIGHT NOW IN THE UNITED STATES, BUT MORE OF THIS.

SO WHERE IS PRIVATE MONEY IN THE UNITED STATES ON THIS? EXPORTING THE INVESTMENT MONEY TO INDIA, INDONESIA AND CHINA AND MEXICO CREATING JOBS THERE IN THESE PLACES?
