First of all sorry for your loss....the reason that the clean up was stopped was that the City was using county equipment to clean private property up which can not be done. The quorum court stopped the clean up. Any government equipment is not allowed to be used on private property and that includes city. This is another reason that the Mayor is in the headlines. He craps in his cheerios and then hollers why are you picking on me and my family. Just because you have public office doesn't mean you are allowed to do as one pleases. There are laws that have to be followed and again here we go...I am not a Gamble but I am a taxpayer...the County budget is in terrible situation...and I don't want my taxes to go up any more for the mistakes of the elected officials...and there have been several mistakes but it looks as if the quorum court is alert enough to stop some of the wasteful spending. I again am sorry for your house burning but it is not the citizens responsibility to use our tax dollars to clean up property. That is the truth of why your clean up job stopped. Law prohibits the use of government equipment on private property.

Kwitcherbellyakin! You didn't get what you wanted....a free cleanup....so now you're here griping about someone. There are laws against what was happening on your property. Buy some insurance. The taxpayers aren't responsible for your ignorance. You probably used the money for Internet service. Big help it was. Should have spent it on grammar lessons.

all I can say is bless your heart and u hope you never go threw anything like this, and a free clean up we had people that volunteered to do it for free and they started it today. The city came to us about the county cleaning it up! For your info we didn't get any money and like I said we realize we should have had insurance and another thing my grammar really! I guess you think your the only one that pays taxes! And there's no law about what was going on with the county cleaning up the lot all you know is hear say!

Well Ashley the freeloader. If you can afford to pay CASH for a home and CHOSE not to insure it why can't you pay to clean it up. Why put the bill on the tax payer???

If you financed it you would be required to have insurance.

I'm sure you have the money to pay just looking for handout to pay for your stupidity.

No pity here.
Now you want to put someone down and trash them because YOU want taxpayers to bail you out.
Instead you should see Dan as a man that wants to handle tax dollars resposably.

Wow what a refreshing change over current officials!!!!!

Maybe if the wagners would pay their water sewer and garbage bill the city would have money to help out citizens in need.

No all the money must go into wagners pocket to hell with the people!!!!!

Ashley, I find this very funny that you thought the best way to get a response from Dan was by putting it on Topixs. He is not a hard man to find as he has a store on hwy 18 called GAMBLES! Lol. He is always in and around Manila. As far as hin stopping the city from cleaning up your mess. Wow he only wishes he had that kind of power. I'm also a taxpayer and my thoughts aee clean your own mess up or have your drunk/dope headed friends that sat on your front porch everynight and day partying to clean it up. Stop looking for a hand out, you should have had insurance!!!!!! But hey keep voting for the Wagners, maybe he will get you free water too!

I havn't seen Dan Gamble in years but I remember him like most of us growing up around Manila poor and I am glad he seemed to make good in his life. Also only the rich can afford NOT to have insurance.

The individual who came by and took the pictures of the clean up being done was a QUORUM COURT MEMBER. The political hometown war really has nothing to do with the right thing since government equipment is NOT to be used on private property. Taxpayers in this county do not want their tax dollars going to clean private property. The county's budget is in the RED and doing projects within the county for private individuals is not acceptable. Sorry for the loss of your home to a fire but I am glad that you have volunteers to help with the clean up.

First I would like to say thank you and I understand what you are saying. I also pay taxes too, but no one is complaining about them cleaning other private places up or about the city using our tax money to mowe people's property that are to lazy to do it theirselves. If it was wrong for the county to come clean it up I apologize, but like I said in a comment earlier the city came to us! We where just happy that the city was willing to help us, had no idea that it was wrong we mind are own business and live day by day like most people here. We love Manila and the community they have really came together to help us out! I'm not takeing sides or asking for a free clean up, but when I was told that it was all over the Gamble and Wagner thing I was very upset no one explained to me anything else!

I agree with what you said, City is mowing private properties all over town and assumed that they could use county equipment the same. You are not at fault they did come to you like you said. Using a political war game to hurt people is not right. I don't agree with that at all. You are a concerned citizen and a taxpayer just like the rest of us. No one should be bad mouthing you either, you were apparently used and that is wrong and the City owes you a apology for putting you and your devastating situation with a house fire in the middle of such political mis-use. It is like ok to clean up Councilman's Davis property because he is too cheap to spend a dollar, clean up foreclosure properties belonging to city employees children and I totally agree that all of these situations are wrong. I think everyone has a right to voice their opinion, and I am proud of you for doing so. Voice is power, power is a VOTE.

well this must be Dan the man lol sounds just like him! And why would a free ride in tax payers money when I am a tax payer and oh yeah that's right that we have people cleaning it up! Once again they came to us not us begging them so get your facts straight! Dan didn't do it because he was worried about the tax payers money he done it cause he knew the mayor had something to do with it!Sorry excuse for a human I don't talk to grown people like they are dogs I have respect where respect is deserved! I am NOT trashing anyone! And if he doesn't want to waste money then why not be a good concerned citizen and come and speak to us and explain to us instead of calling and cussing me and say he didn't do it, when in fact he did. And you are not getting what I'm saying if it was wrong for the county to be there then it was wrong and I apologize, and we would of never agreed to it everyone that knows us will tell you that!
