This BVA election we still have one of the vermin who is seeking re election: KRAFT. There have been alot of comments posted about his granddaughter graduating with a teaching degree. The director of curriculum made the statement that should the Reconfiguration go into effect, "it would place ADDITIONAL teachers to help with intervention, materials, and technology." We would receive additional federal funds for Marion and Bellmar being they are located in Fayette County. Does that mean his relation will be one of those hired and placed there? If the residents voted him out of office before, why did the former board appoint him to a vacancy? The voters had voiced they did not want him. Appoint someone who wasn't voted out.
Don't you just love politics? The lies, under the table deal making never ends. In some ways it appears more people are speaking up and out against this corruption within the school board however we still lack the numbers to make changes. I believe at this point the best thing to do is write to the newspapers and blogs.. Keep the pressure on these weasels and tell anyone who will listen how corrupt all of this really is and why they should be involved. I've been screaming for justice for over 40 years about this political corruption and I will continue as long as I can. Kraft/Patterson, RESIGN NOW!

Just today another district announced one of the solutions to their financial problem. They are "freezing" all salaries for all employees starting with the admininstration. Why are all the districts announcing what is being done with the exception of BVA? Sure, they did announce that the administrators agreed to a one year freeze on their salaries; that is, after they already have received raises for this school year. And, the lowest paid employees (cafe, janitors, and drivers) agreed to a three year freeze (they need to get new leaders after that proposal.) The TEACHERS will not agree to anything till the vote is made on the Reconfiguration. The superintendent and the teacherfs are running the district and don't let anyone tell you differntly.

BVA board take a stand. Tell the teachers they will take a freeze. Other districts are laughing at you for having no backbone. Districts are cutting all day kindergarden; eliminating programs; furloughing staff; closing buildings; cutting administrators; cutting athletic costs; eliminating some classes and reducing the number of electives...just do it. Taxpayers don't want to see these steps taken but taxpayers do not have the money for what the super and teachers want. Our teachers are next to the highest paid teachers in the county and did you know according to the Educational Research Service superintendent salaries in PA have risen faster than the cost of living. Get busy board and do the job you were elected to do...a good one and not a biased one; that being concerned only for one group of employees...and not the taxpayers.

BVA is loaded with corrupt maggots who need to be removed from office by force if necessary. These liars and cheats don't give a damn about anyone except themselves and their family members who they get jobs for in the school. Sewer scum, the BVASD and ALL of it's employees. And why is there such a HUGE drug problem in the BVA schools? Answer the question members of the SB!!

BVA teachers may be the second highest paid in Westmorland County, but the district also includes Fayette County, I would wager a quess that they are THE highest paid in Fayette County. You do know that all this talk is useless, they'll do exactly what they want and we will have absolutely nothing to say about it, so get your check books ready to pay, pay and pay.

If we all sit back and allow it, then yes all this is useless. They CAN and WILL be stopped because people are not going to eat the shit they are trying to shovel down everyone's throat. People are not going to continue to take this beating while these sick bastards enjoy the fruits of our labor. They know they are on real thin ice and the party is coming to a HALT!

I hope you're right, I have my doubts. People are more like sheep, they just follow, there's no fight in them, they count on a few to do the fighting for them. You can't fight a union contract, it's signed, sealed and done. Hey, I hope you can keep up the fight, I'd love to see the blood suckers get theirs, I'd also like to see KRAFT finally, for once, get kicked out, but he always seems to get re-appointed, how does that work?

Favors owed. That's how Kraft keeps getting re-appointed. How about Patterson he is welded to the board and is full of himself. Bialon would be probating 'wills' and nothing else if it was not for his daddy who was hooked up with the maggot commissioners in Rostraver.

If enough people are willing to assemble and go to these meetings and raise hell each time it will wear these thugs down to the point where they will cave in and possibly resign. About 5 years ago george martin resigned as a Rostraver commiss because he could not take the heat over the sewage situation. Recently Lorenzo asked him to come back (all done illegally) and Martin did come back and now he thinks he's a clone of Hitler. His azz is in for a wake up call very soon. The punk works for the people! Same goes for the idiots on the school board, they work for the people and the people had better wise up or they will lose their homes to taxes and end up living in some subsidized housing plan eating dog food for dinner while the whores who sit on these boards eat steak!

Wake up Belle Vernon!

You speak about the Rostraver Commissioners -the BVA local school board and how horrible they are raising taxes and doing corrupt things ...... to me that is small potatoes. Do you drive, gas at $3.75 a gallon and raising as I write, milk $3.43 a gallon, the United States Military (young men and women fighting for us to be able to speak our minds) having to endure 1/2 of their salary being ripped from them, the problems aren't just local they are national. I am sure that you will most likely place blame on the Belle Vernon Area "LOCAL" school board. Again small potatoes = small minds!http://www.topix.com/for um/post#

You are a moron. We are talking about property tax increases and paychecks that far exceed the ability of the so called teacher. If you want to bitch about gas prices call your leader Obama and tell him to start drilling in the USA.

#1. This forum is SUPPOsSED to be about the BVA Board; there are other sites for RT Commissioners and WT Supervisors, etc.

#2. Yes, the whole world has problems: counrtries in turmoil; people revolting; weather catastrophies; young men and children being killed; etc. Maybe we can't control all those but we CAN, and with the local voters help, control what is governing our local school boards

#3. This may be "small potatoes" to you but if YOU lived in our area, you may be more understanding of our situation. How would you like your tax increase to be 4.77 for one year and then doubling for two additional years if you were a taxpayer in RT? Or those taxpayers in the Fayette County area of our district who won't have such a large increase but will have the expense of sewage?

#4. And after we are hit with this, all the retailers in our area will ALSO have to increase the price of their services to us because their taxes were also increased. So, we will be getting hit all round. Put youself in our shoes before you condemn us. You say, "small potatoes..small minds". It is not "small potatoesw" to those who have lost their jobs, losing their homes, on fixed incomes, etc. And, as far as "small minds"..we are speaking our minds (that hasn't been taken away from us yet) because WE live here, not YOU.

You cannot get the Valley Independent to report everything. If you've been to the meetings you'd have noticed alot of good common sense comments but these comments are never printed. Do you know why? I'm sure you could guess. And, it isn't because of space for they find the print to list every word of the super's comments as he reads them off his sheets. And, the public needs the resignation of Esquire Bialon along with the two mentioned above.

Patterson not only was a teacher his daughter is a teacher in BVA. Krafts daughter is also a teacher in BVA his wife was and his son is a custodian although, maybe not for long. They're making sure their families are doing well they don't really care about ours. Makes me sick, they need to go, but the voters will soon forget, as usual, that's why we get what we get.
You mentioned Kraft's son is a custodian although maybe not for long. Should he not have been terminated for his actions, if there was justifiable evidence, as I understand there was? Is the district still paying for his family's health care and how long should that be? I'm sure Bialon is mentoring his father on how to handle this situation with different "ins and outs" with his hired attorneys. And, how much is the cost for a family plan health care
and how long has this been going on and will continue? It would be interesting to know the money already spent on his health plan.

I definitely will fight for what is right for me and all the people in BVA whether they are in Rostraver Township or Washington Township...we are all BVA. Maybe we cannot fight the teachers' contract but there are other opotions. Options that other districts are taking so they have to be legal actions. Was it Franklin Regional that gave their employees "pink slips" which was a heads-up to them that furloughs may be possibe? And, didn't Frazier announce the same? I think the district has to give a cetain number of days notice before the end of the school year. But, I don't know if that is the last day of instruction or the last day of the school calendar year which would be June 30. Belle Vernon's board will probably wait too long and say they didn't have the proper time frame to give out "pink slips". And, no wonder when you have two educators negotiating with the teachers or are they appeasing the teachers?

Residents of the BVASD. Write to the State dept of education, your state rep (Harhai), Senator, anyone you can think of regardless of what you think they can or won't do. They will be thinking of re-election! You see what happened to PAT, they were raising taxes to keep PAT going with the absurd salaries many of the PAT employees receive and even Onarato had to concede. This is not about party affiliation this is about a group of thugs who are taking care of their family and friends while they expect you and me to pay for it via higher property taxes. Lets gets the letters to the editor in. I am writing and calling are you??

Well, ANOTHER district has made a decision of furloughing teachers and aides. According to the article on Monessen School District: a student needs only 4 years of English; 4 years of math, and 3 years of Social Studies. As a result of decline in enrollment, teachers and aides were furloughed. Has OUR board looked into this criteria? There are programs that could be cut and maybe those teachers have dual certifications and could bump younger personnel. This seniority works everywhere; even in the other employee groups. Take a look at the administrators even the clerical staff. Do we need all of them? The board needs to survey other districts to see how many of them carry the number of adminstrators and clerical workers that BV does. You should be showing the taxpayers some action and more important some respect for our situation with this proposed tax hike. We, as taxpayers, need to show Mr. Kraft some disrespect by voting him out.

You left out Patterson! Every member of the BVA school board needs to be removed and a non-biased school board be put into place with the understanding there will be a provision for spot audits for hiring, salaries, etc. The public,(taxpayer) will reserve the right to question ALL decisions made. This MUST be done in order to stop this theft of taxes. We all need to offer up suggestions and begin implementation.

Patterson is not up for re election and I doubt that he would seek it when his term is up. Bialon may when his term is up because he is on an ego trip and wants to be president of the board again. And, I agree with another person who stated that if there is a vacancy on the board due to a resignation, etc., don't appoint someone who has lost an election. They were voted out; go for some new blood.
