What kind of place do you live in, that the two men who dragged the donkey get such a light sentence?
If you had a smart DA, he would have gone into the men's background in some depth, found out if they also have abused children or beat women in the past- it's pretty likely.
In my little town them boys would have gotten a good beating on the way to jail and hopefully a longer sentence.
Maybe your DA and courts don't take this seriously?
