Call them what they are...."speed specific toll booths" because they issue fees if you get caught... and nothing gets reported ot your insurance or shows up on your driving record.

MAke it clear - the city is not welcoming the cameras, the POLITICIANS are. The politicians and police - who are not qualified in traffic engineers - are making traffic engineering decisions without conducting and engineering studies. Why? It's all about the money.

Awesome, another town I will not be doing business in due to revenue producing cameras. These towns claim that these are for safety but everything I have read states that these sre for revenue only. How about we demand that these municipalities tighten there budgets like the rest of us are having to do so these are not required!

Awesome, another town I will not be doing business in due to rediculous revenue producers! I quit spending my money in areas of Davenport due to them. How about you just start spending our money more wisely so you don't have to raise additional revenues?

Traffic Cameras
To the Editor:
Re “Traffic-Camera Debate Heats Up Campaign Trails < ; ”(news article, Aug. 8):
We were disappointed to read an article focused on the politics of photo enforcement rather than on the safety benefits these cameras provide.
In 2002, our daughter, Sarah, was killed when a man disregarded a red light and crashed into her car. Since that fatal collision, we have worked to shed light on the importance of obeying all traffic safety laws. The consequences are too dire to be ignored, as more than 200 people have died and 9,700 were injured as a result of red-light running and speeding in our home state of Ohio alone in 2009.
Photo enforcement leads drivers to think twice before running a red light. The technology deters the reckless driving behavior that puts people like Sarah at risk every day, and the fines associated with the act deter future bad behavior. It is our hope that police departments will use this proven technology to make our streets safer and save people’s lives.

Please use these cameras so we can cut down on red light runners and cut down on accidents! I have witnessed far too many people blowing red lights and causing a crash or very close call.

Clearly something needs to be done about this problem. I'm glad the cameras are going up to catch those people who think they're above the law and have the right to endanger the rest of us.
