Who knows. As much as it is nice there is a business going in there, it's firestone. Prime spot for a big box store, but let's put in a firestone. Same thing as the southwest corner of Wolf Road and Route 30 with a Chase Bank. Can our elected officals please start trying to secure a big box store? Don't they realize this could have helped their budget and District 159? No more banks, no more pizza places, no more giant bars. Swallow your pride. Get us a McDonalds, Portillos, how about a driving range, maybe a Sears, and find a big box before time runs out.

If you know how to attract businesses then maybe you should talk to the Village. In this economy we are lucky to get anything!

wa wa,
You're telling me I should be lucky to get anything. I've bought into all the crap this town has conjured up. I was pro community. I've been to functions by the mayor, tried to keep an open mind to all of this, but the truth is: when Will County was growing and communities like Frankfort, Mokena, and New Lenox where starting to see themselves on the map, 2 communities stayed realistic while the other made some decisions that has now come back to haunt it. I was not here for some of the earlier things when other businesses fell through, but I am allowed to give my opinion that the village should be doing all they can to get an anchor store/ big box, whatever you want to call. We are landlocked, and are very short on where to put one of these. I don't care about Mokena helping Haiti, I don't care about Mokena helping it's sister town during Katrina, the Mayors classic car shows, or his golf outtings, or the fourth of July parade or fireworks anymore. I don't want to hear about cuts to police and the schools. It's unacceptable but that's all we keep hearing from our officials. How come I don't hear about that in Frankfort or New Lenox? I would hope with all of the networking the Mayor and the board had done with some of these charities and functions that maybe they could have gotten a few potential names or future businesses to put in their rolodex. Perhaps I don't know how to land a store for our community, but then again, I'm not the one running for office. But when you want the title, you get what comes with it. I'm sure the writing was on the wall long ago, but they just kept putting all of their eggs in one basket thinking building permits were going keep us afloat. There have been too many mistakes made. And judging by many of your previous posts, you seem to get defensive to the comments made by others regarding these mistakes. I'd love to be the person who is all positive and cheery, but its not realistic. Mokena needs to help itself.

Daily Horoscope for July 29

Libra

With the passing Moon in Pisces and your sixth house of health and service, you should be the model of compassionate care. Tending to those you are responsible for, including your pets and plants, is a pleasure today. If you have been eating junk food and putting off your exercise routine, this is the perfect day to get back on track. As Mars dives into your sign, the cosmic pressure increases your competitive spirit and inspires you to be more aggressive, even physically combative, than usual.
