In 1975, during a sleepover at Immaculate Conception Parish in Braidwood, the Rev. Donald O’Connor challenged a teenage boy to a card game.

The winner got to fondle the loser’s genitals, O’Connor decided, according to a confidential memo recently released by the Diocese of Joliet.

The boy purposely lost so he wouldn’t have to touch the priest, the memo says, and he locked himself in a bathroom after O’Connor followed through with his suggested prize.

Despite the incident and other allegations of abuse, O’Connor stayed in ministry for 22 years in Braidwood, at St. Bernard Parish in Joliet and at Assumption Parish in Coal City, before he was placed on administrative leave in 2002, according to diocesan records.

Does anyone really believe this happen? This guy is just out for the money. If this was true why didn't he say something when it happen? Unless he liked it.

That is unnecessary, don't you think? Maybe it took all these years for him to come to terms with what happened to him. Maybe he waited until a loved one wouldn't be hurt. Maybe he waited to ensure he wouldn't have to face his attacker. Maybe you don't have all the facts. And you wouldn't know ... Unless you were a victim too.

Go back to church and pray about it. I think you had your signals crossed. Cook the bastage.

I don't believe that you would go since 1975 before saying something. People today are only out for the money. Being a teenager as is stated in the article you definitely wound not go without saying something when it happen unless you want it to happen.
Where are the people of that church? Their the ones who have to pay the money for the lawsuit. I guess they got money to waste on this or no courage to speak up.

Are you suggesting that if a minor wants to be molested by a priest that it is ok? Are you also suggesting that if u or someone is molested that the first thing they would most likely do is tell everyone they know about it? Doesn't sound very logical to me bud. Sorry.

Im not saying there isn't a god or a supreme being or whatever you want to believe in but organized religion is for people who feel the need to belong, be accepted, be a part of something.
And the leaders of any organized religion all Know that and take full advantage of their followers Financially, physically and mentally.
they even call them SHEEP I call them suckers.

whatever you want to believe you don't need a church.

I understand what you are saying, but need to add this: Church is not a building, it's a community of worship. Traditionally we are called to worship together, but many feel completely full worshipping on their own. Neither are wrong.

What is wrong is people in positions of power, trust, and leadership seeking the meek, young, and naive to prey on and abuse. Whether you attend church or not, sexual abuse is a horrible thing to endure, and it is an unthinkable inexcusable act.

But in covering up the scandal, the church made it much easier for those in power to prey upon the young.

By the way, Hoax, I will say it: there is not a god or supreme being. It's all just made up stuff.

I cant say for sure... just because you cant see something doesn't mean its not there. many people did not believe in things like micro organisms because they couldn't see them. it didn't mean they were not there.
later as we all know they turned out to be fact because we learned how to see them.
don't be so sure of something you don't actually know as fact.
the jury is still out on this one.

I cant rule out "intelligent design" and doubt you can provide facts against it

I respect your point. But because Penn State allegedly covered for Jerry Sandusky, should we stop educating ourselves?

Your statement about the church covering for the pedophiles is not wrong. I am just thinking if there was a cover up in a church, it's not God we should turn from, but maybe just find another place or way to worship Him.

Any of the victims and their families truly have a right to be angry, and to be angry at God. Ultimately it was the decisions of sick humans to hurt these kids. I have complete faith in God that these pedophiles will "get theirs in the end" if ya know what I mean.

they will be forgiven of their sins if they ask for it. and they can enter the kingdom of heaven just the same as you and I. Jesus never said I wont forgive this sin or that sin. he died so that all sins could be forgiven.

that's where the hypocrisy gets exposed. Live a good life, help other, do no evil but if you don't believe in him you cant enter.
be a sinner all your life and ask for forgiveness and your in.

it was pretty simple when it started 2000 plus years later and 'man ' thinks its different to suit what they think is right.

every day I hear people say this person or that person will rot in hell, as if they get to decide.
