I have noticed a very large number of threads written by an author named "Andy". It appeares that this individual is seeking sympathy or remorse from Mokena residents for the civil servant positions.
I cannot fathom a currently employed person complaining about "contract negotiations" during an economic disaster that many Americans are going through at this moment.
I feel "Andy" should be thankful that the Village of Mokena has enough funds to keep him employed at this moment. There are hundreds of thousands of hard working Americans loosing their jobs monthly!
This is not the exact climate that workers should be complaining about salaries! Be thankful you still take home a paycheck, and pray for those who do not!!!

If you have read the posts you would know who I am. But Im sure you already know quite well who I am. And I am entitled to my opinion, just as you are entitled to yours. I dont hide who I am, and if you dont like what I say, then its quite easy just to not read the posts.
And not looking for sympathy, just putting out some points for people to consider. And amazingly enough no one ever debates the points that are made. And one more point for you to consider. We tried asking the village if they would make up the salaries later if we put them off for now and were told no. We are already 8-10 percent behind comparible towns. So kind Teflon John why dont you tell me what we should do in regards to negotiations if you have the answers. I will await your response. Thanks.

Yeah, they should be thankful for putting their lives at risk every day, dealing with the purest scum bags in town, and still being paid less than comparable. No one had asked for sympathy. Falling farther behind than the comparable agencies is going to do nothing but cost more money in the future. It is a lot cheaper to avoid arbitration and pay the employees comparably to other towns (fairly), than it is to use the lagging economy as an excuse. The Village should never have relied so heavily on construction related funding, but started to build a decent tax base with more commercial uses.

Wow couldnt have said it better myself. Wish I had you with me in meetings with the village.

Still waiting for the response from T John. Its amazing all the people who come on here and try to take shots at my posts. But never debate the points that are made. Talk to all of you later, heading out for the night. And thanks to all of you.

You work for Mokena PD not Chicago or Harvey. Quit blowing your own horn. It is not that tough of a job going after lose dogs, telling someone to bring their barking dog into the house, advising someone to cut their grass moved the illegally parked car. Stop it. I am a retired Chicago Police officer and saw more in one month then you guys would see in a career. Give it a rest.

Why do you keep changing your name. And your no retired chicago cop. What districts did you work. What was your star number. You are an a&& clown. No cop would ever use those lines you are using. Its amazing you people never respond to questions that are asked you. Why is your ip the same as the person who started this thread. Mother is calling you to come upstairs and have some hot cocoa with mini marshmallows now.

Well certainly not as many wanted to be an underpaid Mokena cop. Because we had multiple tests were not too many showed up. I beleieve we had under 20 once or twice. I think that is the point that was being made.

Big retired CPD, eh? Seriously? The girls with 2-man cars? The ones with the gang problems INTERNALLY?? I'm not about to stoop low enough to bash the CPD. But just think before you speak, idiot.

You saw soooo much, right? Give it up, douche. Clearly you have no idea about what happens out here. You're a retired CPD, and that's great. I seriously doubt you saw that much action, and if you did, good for you, you were lucky to get out unscathed.

I'm NOT a cop. Never have been, thank you very much. I -AM- a concerned citizen that understands the dangers the PD faces every day. Like I've stated before, it has only been a few years since New Lenox was involved in gun fight, in which one officer was shot.

There has been two homicides in less than a year (possible three, as one victim is still in a coma) here, for a town of approximately 20,000 people. We DO have violent crimes, as well as petty thefts. And while we are not the ghetto YET (See the other post about us turning into a Crest Hill or Harvey), we do have plenty of idiots that go through our town. And our PD does everything they can to prevent this town into turning into a ghetto. And for that, I'm very thankful.

Andy,
I'd be happy to go up against the Village with you. I'm not sure who of the "management team" is negotiating against you, and I'm sure they are trying to do the best they can. They just aren't seeing the bigger picture, that sooner or later, an arbitrator will rule in the favor of comparability.

Actually, you do know who I am. Hell, we've shared beers together many, many years ago. You and Mark taught me to play Ship-Captain-Crew at the Legion. And you don't particularly care for me, though I've often admired you're uncanny ability in the role of investigator, even when you were a PO and not assigned to investigations.

Keep up the good work. Most of us residents appreciate what you guys and girls do.

Keep up the good work, and that you for keeping us safe.

Sound like your being baited here Drew. Things are being posted here to directly draw you out and get your blood boiling but as someone once said "it is what it is".

Shame some small minded people couldn't stick to the issues at hand. The state of the Village, contracts and the many inconsistencies that have been going around this town. Its a shame, that you can't have a civil discussion about real issues, really grow up. There are more important things going on out there. Have we really gotten to the point where personal attacks are warranted, please.

As far as how hard the Mokena Police Job is, I'll think about how insignificant my job is when the the phone rings at 3 in the morning.

Keep your head up Drew your doing a good job for ALL of us

I dont care about the people who dont like me or what I have to say. They are entitled to their opinion and are probably in the majority. However I wish they had some answers to legitimate questions I throw back at them. Im still waiting for the response to the question asked in post 2 of this thread.

Time to move, you have me stumped. The line about me not particularly caring for you has me baffled. Maybe we need to have a few more beers together. You know I have mellowed since the old days of the legion, as you can tell from my posts. Give me something to remember you by like first initial.
