A little of both if you ask me. I have a better idea. I think these "partners" should pay some local taxes instead of buying some stupid cars. Far more people would benefit from that. The City of Eerie is slowly circling the bowl.

Pretty nifty take home rides. We'll see how the pecking order lines up when we see these guzzlers out in the county instead of inside the city limits, workng.

Jesus, I gotta agree with your post. Maybe Erie would be better off receiving a cash payment and pay off the principal of last years multi million dollar pothole bond.

Laura Schaaf, Sinnott's assistant, said the bond request is a testament to the city's financial health.

"We needed to get our financial house in order, so some things were put on a back burner," Schaaf said.

How Erie City Council plans to spend $8.5 million (less bond fees):

- Street paving through 2013,$5.5 million

- A new fire truck,$750,000

- Twenty-six detective cars,$780,000.

- Four public works vehicles,$385,000

- Upgrades to cell-phone tower and radio equipment,$700,000

- McBride Viaduct renovation, replacement or demolition work:$300,000

"We're now at the point where we're healthy," she said. "Now's the time to set us up for a long-range plan to address some of our capital needs."

Over 15 years, the total borrowing is expected to cost the city about $34 million in principal payments and fees
