The "former very successful Millcreek Schools superintendent" talked to was one whose lack of oversight and attitude of arrogance allowed for example Mary Ann Anderson to spend a hundred grand on gift cards she squandered at will. Funding from the state was at it's all time high so budgets weren't a problem. The economy was stronger, there was less unemployment, fewer legal issues and little high stakes testing. You old war horses are OFFENDED because no one is beating your door down to ask your opinions? You are comparing apples and oranges, pal. If you want to contribute, run for the board, participate in finding solutions for present day problems instead of adding to the weight of negativity. Shame on you.

I look at the Erie and Millcreek School Boards and other boards like the Erie Airport Authority and the Port Authority - and see people who are just in LOVE with themselves...

They don't work too hard, they don't know too much, but, boy, they all seem to know that they are "gifted"...

The exceptions to the "Reign of Goofballs" seem to be the Summit Supervisors, the Harborcreek Supervisors and the Harborcreek School Board.....)
(Others may exist.....)

The Harborcreek supervisors and school board? You have got to be kidding! In the past year the school board triedtoshove a new grade school up the asses of the taxpayers to the tune of 30 million. Only a strong public outcry forced them to retract this plan and decide to renoate the existing schools. As for the supervisors, they steadfastly refuse to form a joint police force with the surrounding municipalities. There has been a large increase in violent crime in the township, with no force toprotect the citizens. They belong in the goofball hall of shame as well!!!!

Gino Carlotti is a class act. Too bad nobody on the present school board or in the administration is on his level.

Gino is no where near my definition of a "class act". Pompous, arrogant and full of himself, just like Jim Barker. Cut out of the same mold.

These Old Timers don't have all the answers. Look at Millcreek School Board. We have 2 retired administrators sitting on that board now. Ron Wilga and Rebecca Mancini.

Wilga has been in millcreek schools for at least 33 years, but does nothing but play favorites and leave board meetings early. He's as arrogant as he is ignorant and was moved around a lot over the years because he is completely ineffective. They didn't find a good use for him until he came to North Coast. Even that he mismanaged until Stoops got there to straighten things out.

Rebecca Mancini is another story. Even if she offers good advice it is tied down by her whistle blower case and brings back the negatives in the past in PR...

These Old Timers are of no help. They just add to the confusion and reopen old wounds.

He is a good man, a very good one actually.

But be careful not to let nostalgia cloud your judgement.

I'd take the students he had in his time over the ones in school now anyday. The challenges teachers face now are getting worse. There are more lower income families and children at risk in Millcreek now then when Carlotti was around.

He can easily look like a hero in some dusty old book. Let him come deal with less funding and more students with unstable families. Unless he can print money or counsel those families what good would his advice be?

He had his time. That time has passed.

Who cares about gino whatever the hell. IDK or care. He sounds like he is more worried about his reputation and associations with the district in that letter and how that will reflect on him..

The people that are there need to man up and get the job done.

Hall will be fine. It is the dynamics of the board that sucked up until now....too many of those people are in love with themselves. I hope the new people coming in will really listen, look and act on policy and district finances...that is the main thing.

Don't count on them coming in to do anything. Donna and kobylka are in love with themselves and are opportunists waiting for the cameras to arrive after they have called jet tv. Lou will probably not make it and pitzer needs to get a mind of his own and stop riding the fence between Donna and Lou.
Their reasons for running seems more about themselves than about doing good for the district.

Wow first Mancini is attacked for outing Andrrsons abuse of public bucks and is victimized for six years in a groundless court case and now you say she is no good for the board because of the PR her situation brings? Unbelievable. She ought to give the whole district the finger for the way she was treated yet she volunteered to be on the board and drive out Giolde. Open your eyes.

How do you know she had anything to do with Golde's departure?

The Whistleblower case is done now so Mancini is not tied down at all. She is an example if what that school board needs to be.

JohnP is not Lou or Donna. Really current board members, parents and taxpayers should be content with him. He seems down to earth and normal, unlike Donna and Lou.

I hope you are right about Lou not making it but don't be too sure about that. He lies and says anything to people to get them to vote for him. Lou Aliota will cause problems everywhere he goes. He thinks he has a talent at persuasion and he is narcissistic enough to believe he cannot fail. That is another of his weaknesses beyond the $9 he stole at the VA. Let him suffer from his own delusions and he will tie the nose around his own neck...

Vote John Diplacido! We have enough trouble, we don't need to add Lou into it.

Kobylka and Reese will be there and it will be interesting to see how that plays out. Koblyka will no longer be a one man deal on that board. He will have his own block.

I agree. His letter made him sound like a selfish old man that couldn't be bothered to have his reputation tarnished by having worked in Millcreek Schools because of the bad press. But I'm sure he cashes his pension checks just fine.....hypocrite!

If Lou Aliota wins the future will be very dark. I believe Mancini would have been great to have for another 4 years. I am hearing rumors that Golde ran off because of her. Could be. She does not endure fools, Anderson, Wilga, and that Millhouse posse did not threaten her. Why would Golde scare her?

About Carlotti...I don't think people are paying any attention.
