NYS will never see. They won't ever stop attacking anyone who sees what they are doing. They just won't stop digging the hole. They pretend they're not the problem. Most expensive, waaay down the "results" list!

"SUNY"! AHHHHAHahahahahahaha!

A million dollars is a pension that over 20 years pays the recipient $50k a year in money and healthcare benefits. Are you trying to say that isn't a common occurrence?

$1,000,000 for pension/savings/health care over 20-30 years is a realistic number needed for EVERYONE, not just public service employees.......

Keeler needs a GPS tracker to get to & from work everyday. How can he intelligently debate anyone about anything?

Why not $2 million? Heck, why not unlimited?
Obviously everyone can't have a million dollar pension. Businesses can't compete and pay that kind of money out to retirees. If private sector businesses can't afford that then why do the taxpayers put up with giving it to those in the public sector.

Teachers and their unions have made themselves a special class of people immune to economic conditions and it's wrong.

It isn't about an upper limit and $1M is not an exorbitant or unrealistic number for anyone planning to retire and live the next 20-30 years, regardless of the sources of income. That includes EVERYBODY, private and public. I am not impressed with that number. It is reality.

As a lifetime private sector person, I actually do not have a problem with most local teacher pension plans. As a private sector worker with similar education, I made significantly more money annually and my benefit package is equal or better than theirs. My jobs have their own anomalies and none of my employers have ever been located locally, but I don't begrudge their job or any of the compensation that goes with it.

My issue is with those very generous pension plans that we never discuss....NY State Police, prison employees, government employees, elected officials, firefighters, postal workers, NYRA. etc. with the work 20 years and move on to the next public sector job with a pension. Teachers pensions pale in comparison and the educational level required is in most cases, minimal.

You can debate all you want about teacher pay and benefits, but the real issue is that you simply, by most accounting standards, cannot afford the number of schools you have with the yield from your current tax base. Within the valley alone, there are 3 school districts in Herkimer, Frankfort, and CVA, all touching each other within a 10 mile radius. Do you think Walmart could afford 3 stores within that same geography ? What makes you think you can ?

I think ALL public sector pensions should be scrutinized. It seems counter intuitive to me that public sector employees whose salary and benefits are paid for by taxpayers have pensions and benefits that are so far above and beyond the average in the private sector. It's ridiculous and the cost is a big factor in the continued economic failure in New York.

It's good that you make/made more than your public sector counterparts with like education. Congratulations. It certainly isn't true for all though especially when you total the pension and continuing healthcare benefits. Teachers and public school administrators certainly belong on your list alongside public safety, elected officials and the rest.

I would welcome an honest debate using real facts and figures so that the public at large can see what is going on and form their own opinion. The teacher and administrator unions are giant P.R. machines that manufacture stories that benefit them and contribute to politicians that help them. They've done a great job at that in recent years. When you look at political contributions in all of New York you find that the third highest in contributions are the teachers unions trailing only healthcare concerns and lawyers. It shows.

He is nothing but a drunk like his uncle! I wish nothing but ill will onto that man for the threats he made on an innocent person!
