If the State can give a new merged district $59 million, why can't it give money to the individual districts? All along our school leaders have said there isn't an equitable split of state aid and the bigger, richer districts get more than the smaller ,poorer districts. Now Tangorra is going to advise "his board of education" to get our politcal leaders to get special legislation so Ilion and Mohawk can merge. Why don't our school leaders get after our politcal leaders to get a fair share for our schools. Why don't all the schools and the people who live here get after out elected officials to make NYState give us our fair share. If the elected officials won't do anything then it's time to get new ones. The elected officials work for us and if that is what the people want then it is their duty to follow our wishes. While Ilion and Mohawk may have passed the merger it was far from a landslide. 1300 people voted No. If the schools weren't having financial problems there would be no talk of a merger. Seeems like instead of making our elected leaders fight for our fair share we have decided merger is the only way to go.

The state and politician's want schools to merge, thus the incentives. They are no longer giving the extras to individual school systems (small schools). People have demanded less government, now you complain when they do something about it.

The governor ran on a platform of consolidation. grants are drying up for those who are no merged, consolidated or regionalized.

Change is coming and for those that don't change, times will be bleak. The state has been saying for years that small school will get less, you chose not to listen and turn a blind eye. Now pay.

If you read the State's stance on mergers, they are not all that interested in tiny 2 way mergers,,,not even 3. 4 and above is their wish. Also, they are mostly interested in the VERY small districts merging. Four Mohawk sized school districts merging would be ideal from the State's perspective.

Wednesday nights joint board meeting in Mohawk between Ilion and Mohawk was illegal.

N.Y. EDN. LAW 1803-a : NY Code - Section 1803-A:
If the resolution described in subdivision two of this section
shall be defeated, no such elections or meeting shall again be called within one year after such elections. If no elections or meeting shall be called to reconsider the question within two years after such original elections or if at any such elections or meeting called within two years of such original elections the resolution shall again fail of adoption, the order of the commissioner of education to which the resolution relates
shall be null and void and of no further force and effect.

Illegal. Cosimo Tangorra will keep making up the rules as he goes until he finally gets his way......or covers up a mess in Ilion? Might as well stop fighting him he will never let this thing rest.

You do realize that you are arguing with a post from October, right? Maybe YOU need to figure out what is current and what is NOT.

What are you talking about? You are really not making much sense. Anybody can sign the petition. They are available to sign in each of the schools and district offices. All you need to do is walk in and sign.

And the petition could 100% full of NO VOTERS signatures and it would still do what it needs to do...give Ilion and Mohawk the right to a binding vote on 2/12/13.

If you feel so wronged and overlooked, then go sign the petition tomorrow morning. Nobody is stopping you.

Nothing makes sense because this rushed 5 week free for all full of illegality is being steamrolled upon a small fearful community. Stand up people and ask questions I bet good money the CAC.....just one meeting this time?.....be be utterly full of great answers. Oh no they wont. Read the study and you will see less substance than a Dr. Suess book. And we are expected to vote on this proposal?

What a crock of BS.

This merger has been hashed and rehashed. It started with Ilion and Mohawk and it's back to us 3 years later. Ask any question you want, you'll get a answer.

These idiots opposing the merger need to cut the bullsh!t and admit they are liars and thieves. When the moral leader of the crew is a guy arrested for illegal voting practices they have no moral high ground here. Is that the type of person that Mohawk will follow?

I'll bet he is willing to publicly debate you or anyone else on the merger. He was smeared by people like you who are trying to silence him with bogus charges that were never tried in court because the dist. attorney told the fat police chief that he was wrong. Yet you feel threatened by dan monahan so you go after him about other things that are not true. You are a coward. Right or wrong at least Dan does not hide and will be decent and civil to everyone who talks with him and speaks up in a public forum unafraid.

And talking about moral leaders one of your former ones Vinny C. ruined a perfectly good family by banging the woman in W.Winfield while still on the school board and wasn't even living in Mohawk after moving out of their home. And Conrad the teacher same thing. Rotten people.

First of all, Vinny is a NASTY A**. Gross!! So really, was it some huge loss there?

And Skippy? What did Skippy do?

Monohan hasn't shown his face around much. But he sure can run his mouth like he actually knows what he's talking about. Idiot!

Not sure what your beef is with the CAC, they are a group of citizens, just like you, who volunteered countless hours, unlike you, to get informed and take part in putting together facts and answer questions. They do not have a dog in the fight, other than wanting what is best for their children and the future of this valley. Get a clue before you start bashing a whole group of people.

You are afraid of him and are threatened by him because you know he is one smart son of a bitch. Look at any of the elections Monohan has been in and you'll see, win or lose, he can help to draw out record number of voters. Whether for mayor, school board, town board, or county legislature or helping with his friends who were running for office (me one of them)he has put on campaigns that drew out record number of voters. Thats why people in power are afraid of him. You just don't know what he is up to next to counter you.
