if you dont donate (or have someone donate blood in your specific name) before surgery you will most likey have to pay for it and the associated costs..the problem with AIDS, and other blood born pathogens that prevent a CLEAN blood source are a problem .check some of the TV ads that say "DONT DONATE BLOOD if you have handled or are taking certain MALE ENHANCEMENT drugs " dont get me started on the NO ADVERSE effects of POT..(LIKE THE TESTICULAR CANCER) you have not asked about..and WONT BE TOLD.there are a great resource of knowledge on the internet..start with something simple like WEBMD.com and go from there..
and sorry only the south near military bases pays for PLASMA donations....the north has too much pathogenic disease i guess. needles and drug use and gay sex..if you plan on moving south check for a plasmapherisis "shop" near you.its tax free money.

But people ARE giving less, ever since the internet hit town because now mmore people are fooling around with multiple partners and no longer qualify to give blood.
