Maybe if they weren't running from the police, the driver could have navigated the curve a little better.

This is how I will call this one. You have a designated driver that got distracted by the with the drunk passengers and lost control on the rain slicked road. I believe that this person used the jeep to transport friends who were to drunk to drive. What a noble thing to do. Quit bashing this situation until the facts come out.

Well, rumor has it, from friends of the victims, that the passengers and driver were all drunk, and that the accident happened because the driver may have passed out/blacked out behind the wheel. It's ridiculous that these kids didn't know better than to not get into a car with someone who was so drunk they were vomiting shortly before driving everyone away! I hope this vehicle and the stories of those involved in the wreck will stand as an example for other kids-do not get into your drunk friend's car, much less let them drive at all! Wish all the rumors and assumptions weren't true, but unfortunately in this case, where there's smoke......
Let this be a lesson for the victims as to how LUCKY they are to even still be alive!

I guessed wrong. I was hoping that somebody was actually trying to do the right thing. Jeep load full of drunks. This driver should spend the rest of his life in jail. He is a habitual DWI offender (allegedly). The 4th DWI, somebody will probably get killed!

First of all, the driver has NO previous DUIs or anything of the sort. He's a good kid, plays sports, gets good grades and is a Junior at Kent State. He is a wonderful person and very well liked by all who know him. He called 2 cab companies last night, waited over an hr, no one showed. He made a stupid mistake and thought he was sober enough to get home (yeah you've never done that huh? yea right!). All the kids made bad choices last night and are paying dearly. Don't worry...as all of you wish...that good kid...the driver...is paying dearly...those were his friends remember? I hope all you opionated SOBs never have to experience something like this in your family. But, Karma can be a wonderful thing. A higher power was watching over these kids and we are all thankful they are alive. A very expensive learning experience. So until you walk in these shoes that us as parents are walking in right now, keep your opinions to yourself or at least use class when doing so. Hope tomorrow holds a perfect day for you. But, remember it can change with a phone call...mine did today!!!!!

I cant believe that people are bashing each other via internet. Seven people were hurt last night, some pretty bad. I happen to know all seven of them and its crazy to think about kent without any of them there. Before people sit here and bash, think about it. Yes, these people made a mistake, we all do. We learn from them, thats life. All the passengers in the Jeep are all good people and a few of them are recent grads of KSU. Each are respected on campus, and contribute alot to the university. So insted of going back and forth with each other, why dosent everyone grow up and say some prayers not hurtful things.

I am sorry to hear that this was your friend. I hope everybody is ok. You sound like you are being a little defensive. Well, alot defensive. This good kid may have destroyed 6 other lives. I don't know the extent of the injuries, but if one person is permanently injured then that is one too much. These other people could have been college seniors embarking on graduation and starting their careers. Now all of this could be destroyed while they recover from their injuries. Our society is tooe asy on drunk drivers. Drunk drivers KILL and MAME people and destroy lives. This good kid is no longer a good kid because he made a BAD decision. Nobody put that key in his hand and made him drive away. SHAME. I sincerely hope everybody recovers, but I am sick and tired of DWI drivers !!!

When I think of the risky decisions I made when I was the same age as these kids.....I shudder. I was "lucky" and never had to learn this tough lesson through experience. One of the injured is the child of my co-worker....My prayers are with all involved including the poor kid that has to come to terms with the fact that he hurt his friends that night.

Yeah it was a bad mistake to get in the car with someone who has been drinking. Everyone makes mistakes, and being a friend of one of the passengers, I know he will regret ever getting in the jeep. They learned their lesson but theres no reason to dog on the passengers. Thank god they're alive and instead of bitching about the what if's and the negative sides of the situation, because you have nothing better to do with your time, pray for them.

Well the above shows your ignorance. I'd like to meet you seeing as you are perfect and all. I've never met a perfect person before, what a treat that would be. The driver is and always be a good kid. Just a good kid who made a bad decision and is paying in his own way. He called 2 cab companies for a ride, to no avail. Just take your energy and pray for all involved, no one asked for this. But, I do pray you never have to go through what we are going through. Good Day!

How do you know Ged didn't lose a family member to a drunk driver?

I have no sympathy for anyone who chooses to drive drunk. Drunk drivers kill. He is very fortunate that he did not kill any of his passengers or someone else on the road.

Teach your kids not to drive drunk. Has no one ever watched the public service commercials? Buzz driving is drunk driving.

I hope all of the survivors will recover from their injuries and learn from this.

Ugh, get your facts straight before you start shooting off at the mouth GED. Driver is not a habitual DWI/DUI offender. In fact,he's never had one. There are consequences to all of our choices. Sometimes we make really horrible ones and when that happens we pay. You too! I'm sure you've done stuff you're not proud of too. This could have been so much worse. God was watching over these Kent State kids, they are all great people who made some stupid choices 2 nights ago, that's a given!

All of these kids are seriuosly injured and have parents like me who are in agony over this accident. Including the young man who was driving and has to face criminal charges. Too many young people make bad choices too often. But as the Lord says let the one among you with no sin cast the first stone. And by the way dont you guys have anything better to do than this. We were reading this article to perhaps find out some info and instead find rude and unnecessary comments. Thanks Jessica by the way we are praying
