Good riddance! We've been hearing stories about Moffett for years. I'm happy justice has been served.

Do you really expect people to believe that? If Moffett is so legit, why was the FBI there? Why was the attorney genera's office there? Why was the OKlahoma Bureau of Investigation there? I don't think the FBI would visit Moffett just to say Hi.

Defend Moffett before the Oklahoma Department of Safety, and see what they tell you. Hahaha! Moffett getting banned from the highway is a milestone for the surrounding community. I've got more faith in the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office. They have proven to be respected law enforcement agencies, unlike Moffett.

Why don't other departments have complaints like Moffett? Many of the stories people tell about Moffett are NOT false. Police reports written by Moffett Police Officers *ARE* false. I contacted DPS after I was arrested on Highway 64...and told to pay CASH immideately to be let go without any charges. That's corruption.

I hope DPS holds public input sessions before allowing crooks in uniform to take money from innocent motorists. Long live the Oklahoma Highway Patrol! They are courteous and have public safety in mind. I hope they keep the drugs off Highway 64.

I believe you on the drugs, and drunk drivers. They need to be off the streets...but not taken into jail by Moffett. I would hope there are diligent patrols on the highway. I would be in support of a police department in Moffett if it's under *new* management, as appointed by the Attorney General.

You are so full of it. Good luck getting those patrol powers back. Isn't the county arguing with Moffett over the way they annexed the highway, too? I would imagine an entire county government wouldn't carry this out on a non-corrupt city. What do you say about that?

Your argument about enforcement sounds like a good one...but 84% of a city budget from speeding? That's beyond ridiculous. The speed trap law was created for a reason. It was created to crack down on corrupt police people, like the ones in Moffett!

Maybe I could understand the budget if Moffett was a thriving small town with excellent city services and a high quality of life. But Moffett has neither of those, best I could tell. Poeple in surrounding communities can't see where the money goes. They're only forced to speculate (with good reason) that all that money goes into city leaders' pockets.

You still haven't answered the main point I addressed. You know, "pay me cash NOW, and this won't go on your record." I was never "caught". No drugs were found, and I was not intoxicated. It never went on my record, remember? I never had a day in court, as a citizen deserves. After the incident, I contacted who I needed to contact as a concerned citizen who doesn't like to see corruption.

Here's a question for Moffett: How many citations do they file legitimately AND report to authorities? That's the true question here. The Oklahoma Department of Safety seems to be taking complaints more seriously than they take Moffett's stance in their so-called crackdown on drugs. After all, if state leaders believed Moffett was efficient, their officers would still be on patrol...you know...similar to the likes of *respected* police departments, such as Muldrow, Pocola, Poteau, and Sallisaw.

After the FBI visited Moffett and Roland on the same day, the records remained sealed. No one knows what that was about. However, the Roland city administrator was indicted on federal charges soon after and got into big trouble. I suppose the FBI visited Moffett to assist them with an investigation on the same day they visited Roland? You've got to be kidding me! Too bad Yandell won't see any possible, well deserved, indictments for himself...if you know what I mean!

I don't think many law abiding citizens will help Moffett at this point. Moffett has a disgusting reputation throughout the area, and they brought it upon themselves. Like I said before, regular citizens should be offered a day in court like the law allows...rather than bullied into paying cash on the spot in exchange for a clean record. And as you know, if a motorist refuses to fall into that bribe-like trap...God knows what will be planted on them!

Moffett Police officers know this is true. They're just upset and pointing fingers at motorists they've falsely cited...because they got caught. It's almost a year after the major FBI visit to Moffett and Roland. We already know Roland's fate....Let's see what happens tp Moffett.

This is the last I have to say about this. Moffett's officers give respected police departments in small towns a bad wrap. Roland knew better and cleaned themselves up.

Derrick,

May I ask what you were arrested for... Im very familiar with Moffett too... They only arrest people for breaking the law. Were you breaking the law?

My point is the only people concerned about Moffett is the ones BREAKING the law..

People who break the law often, and are caught by Moffett often like to criticize the Police Department because of all the previous rumors.

Derrick I bet you were arrested for one of these reasons.

1) DUI
2) DUS (Driving Under Supension)
3) Warrant with another aggency
4) Disorderly conduct
5) PI (Public Intox)
6) Posession of DRUGS

I want to say it was probably PI, very common arrest for Moffett. People go to the strip club in a group. They get pulled over every one in the car has been drinking. Then the driver get DUI and passengers PI.

Those 6 Offenses are the only way you can get arrested in Moffet on a Road Stop.

As far as CASH PAYING YOUR WAY OUT... Here is how a MUNICIPLE COURT SYSTEM WORKS IN OKLAHOMA.

When you are arrested each ticket you get has a fine that is set by the state. In order to get out of jail in a municiple town such as MOFFETT, you have to pay the full amount of all the FINES. They only accept Cash, Cashiers Check, Money Order. Resiept is always given.

Reason for paying full amount to bail out. The state doesnt allow municiple courts to go and find people who doesnt pay fines. Yes a warrant can be issued but if you are let out on a bond, bounty hunters dont have athority to come look for you because it was a municiple that arrested you. All municiple towns are like this. Roland and Muldrow to name a few.

The law breakers got what they wanted here. Now you guys are free to drive drunk back and forth from Arkansas to the stip club and flip the Moffett cops off as you pass. If you are a drug user, you dont have to be so paranoid about the well known MOFFETT COPS as you pull out of OUTER ZONE to buy you goods.

The Moffett officers are not bad cop's they work very hard to keep the roads safe everyday. They would not make so much off of speeding tickets if people did not speed. It is not there fault people don’t respect the law. They are doing their job, why should they be punished for doing what they are supposed to be doing? What you think they should only be able to write so many speeding tickets a day, that really sends out a good message.
If people did not speed they would not make so much off of speeding tickets. Everyone needs to take responsibility for there actions no matter who you are or who you know don’t go talking crap about the officers because you got a ticket you shouldn’t have been doing stuff you are not suppose to be doing and don’t talk crap because you are not making money because people are scared to go because when they leave and they have been drinking they will get caught the owner should have thought about that before he open it up. If people were really worried about keeping people safe they would levee them alone and let them do there job, but no there more worried about keeping the strip club open. That’s what is wrong with everything today people don’t care about people they care about how much money they can make. It is very simple don’t break the law and you wont have nothing to worry about!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to thank derrick from fort smith for giving credit where its due. we in roland are very proud of our "new" police department as well as our city for taking notice to the problems addressed by the FBI and turning our little town around. Our police department has been concentrating on drugs and drunk drivers more lately and have done a great job keeping the street and our neighborhoods safe. I hope one day our Police Department isnt talked about in the same sentence as other departments that are corrupt and up to no good. The Past is the Past and we can only move forward. We hope those who where affraid to visit Roland will no feel safe to do so. Again Thank you Derrick.

Moffett...Legit? Did someone really just post those two words in the same sentence? LOL. Seriously, though, we all know how bad the Moffett police department has been. And how they do "speed trap" people. I have several friends that refuse (and no, they aren't drunk drivers, druggies, etc.) to come to visit me b/c they don't want to have to come through Moffet and risk getting stopped, b/c everyone KNOWS that if you get stopped over there you can be sure of 2 things: 1) YOU ARE GOING TO GET A TICKET 2) YOU WILL GET SEARCHED, QUESTIONED AND HARRASSED.

Glad to see someone stepping up to the plate.

Moffett isn't doing much of their "job" anymore.

It seems as though Moffett's defenders need spelling and grammar courses. It's painful to read your arguments along with the many grammar, syntax and spelling errors.

As for my situation, I say again, I was never officially arrested. However, I was detained and bullied into pay cash immediately for the incident to never go on my record. I never went to court, and was never charged. I was never even told what I was charged with, but I paid the cash out of fear and intimidation from two Moffett police officers. When the officer pulled me over, I was told I was driving one mile above the limit. I'm sorry, but that doesn't seem right to me!

I forgot to mention: I was never given a citation or a receipt.

I called the Moffett police station to ask more about a receipt and court date information in refeence to my incident, but was told that if I went to the station to claim a receipt, they would charge me with something.

The police officer attempted to accuse me of DWI or DUI, but I guess they prefered to take my money without a breath test I requested...maybe because I was innocent! Again, I was never convicted or given a court date.

Get over Moffett, people. They've screwed way too many people out of money.

You've got to be kidding me Nikki. Again, I was never convicted or found guilty of breaking *any* law in a court of law. Moffett, on the other hand, was stripped of the little power they had after due process led by reputable state officials.

So you're saying it's OK for Moffett officers to take cash roadside, in exchange for a "clean" record? Please!

I'm sorry Nikki, but when I made phone calls about my incident to other law enforcement-related agencies, they had a different opinion, and were open to hearing my story.

Many citizens like myself can't wait to learn the outcome of that FBI investigation. We already found out a Roland leader were found guilty of federal offenses. I'm sure he talked the same way you did Nikki...you know, before he was sent to serve in FEDERAL PRISON! It's only a matter of time before we learn what happens to Moffett. Who knows...maybe the FBI will find nothing.(Yeah, right).

For one just because one person screwed up does not mean everyone else should be punished. There are great officers at Roland and Moffett. If you going to talk crap it should not be against the whole department only the person who screwed you over!!!

I hate to say anything bad about a police officer or dept, but.... one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch at a department... I have heard so many stories from differnt people that were stopped and told cash only. We all know that there is NO LEGAL DEPARTMENT THAT TAKES CASH WITHOUT GIVING A RECEIPT. My dad was a police officer for many years in a town in central OK. I talked to him on the laws for this and said there was a state law against an officer taking payment of any kind from a person. They could take the person to the post office and let them drop the payment in the mail and or they could come in or mail it to the department prior to the court date that was set for them. Also they could appear the court day and plead their case. Seems Moffett has forgot the laws and if enough people would take their complaints to the start law enforment board somebody might be visiting the po po house themselves. As far as the Roland PD, my cousin from OKC was in Ft Smith working on computers at one of the factories here and was stopped as he came thru Roland for speeding (3 mph over) and then on his way home was stopped again for going to slow...he was (5) under to cover his butt... So what is a person to do on that kind of situation. We all know we cannot hold the same exact speed constantly (cruise control or not). We know the departments all have a job to do, do them legally.

I HAVE JUST EXPERIENCED FIRST HAND THE FALSE JUSTIFICATION OF BEING TAKING TO JAIL IN ROLAND OKLAHOMA. MY HUSBAND AND FRIEND WERE ARRESTED THIS PAST WEEKEND AND ONCE THEY BONDED OUT, THEY WERE TOLD NOTHING WILL BE ON YOUR RECORD IT IS IF YOU WERENT EVEN HERE.

THE OFFICE PULLED RIGHT UP NEXT TO OUR CAR AND WAS READY TO PASS US; HOWEVER OUR FRIEND IS SPANISH DECENT AND ONCE THE OFFICE TOOK NOTICE TO THIS HE SLAMMED ON HIS BRAKES AND PULLED IN BEHIND US AND TURNED HIS LIGHTS.

MY HUSBAND BONDED OUT FIRST AND AFTER OUR FRIEND BEING IN THE TANK FOR TWO DAYS HIS BOND WAS CUT IN HALF. YET THESE OFFICERS STATED "YOU WERE NEVER HERE"
ITS GREAT TO KNOW THAT THE OKLAHOMA POLICE DEPARTMENT IS SCAMMING HONEST FOLK. HOPEFULLY THE FBI WILL GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS AND THOSE JOKERS WILL HAVE THEIR OWN BONDS. THAT DEPARTMENT IS A JOKE!!!!!!!!

Patty,

First of all, if what you say is true...your friends were *never* found guilty of breaking any law. Hence, the ball is absolutely in your court.

It's a shame these officers are doing this. Do what I did. Find an attorney fast. I don't want to name the attorney helped me in this public forum, but call attorneys in Sallisaw, and I'm *certain* you will find one very passionate about this. Also, call the FBI. They have a public corruption hotline, and they seem very open and willing to hear these types of stories.

Then, contact the attorney general's office and state lawmakers. Your attorney will contact the Oklahoma Department of Safety on your behalf, as they did for me. If you don't want to deal with an attorney, contact the Oklahoma Department of Safety on your own, and see what happens.

We can't keep letting them do this! I thought Roland cleaned up their act. If you let this slide after being happy about getting a "clean record", they will always win. If what you say it true, report them immediately!

PATTY,
What was the reason for the arrest? Did they happen to give you guys a receipt for the bond. Seems they forget to do that so often.

I had heard the Cherokee's had given the town a large amount of money to stop harassing the people driving thru, because it hurt their business. With Choctaw Casino increasing their size and offering more to the people will stay away from Roland if they can't go with the deal.

I hope you follow Derrick's advise and follow up with all. They need to be proscuted for doing wrong themselves.

I just would like to say that the ones that are always talking about the STORIES are the dirt bags...dont break the law..get a life...your made they took your money because you broke the law..LOL I think that it is so funny. I wish they would get that highyway back and keep you drunks and your drugs out of Oklahoma.. you talk about OHP come on my boyfriend got a ticket from OHP there in Moffett for no seat belt... come on OHP you guys cant find the drugs or the drunks on that highway like Moffett can..and before Moffett was taken off the highway a Moffett cop pulled my boyfriend over because he was breaking the law 75 mph in a 55 mph speed zone the cop told my boyfrien to slow down gave him a warning and told him to buckel up and slow down..you get pulled over by the OHP,Sallisaw, Muldrow, Roland you will get a ticket and it will cost you about $250..I was told Moffett just gave 64 speeding tickets in the last 4 years and there speeding tickets are only $85 how can you make money off the speeding...I drive down that highway two times a day for 17 years and never been pulled over.. My brother got pulled over in moffett almost a year ago he went to jail in MOFFETT for PI the guy that was driving was drunk he got a DUI, and fail to maintain lane he blew a .16% he just needed to blow a .08% he was drunk..and im glad he went to jail what would I have done if he crashed in to someone and killed my brother or some one else. someone needs to be on that highway because like I said I drive down that highway two times a day and when Moffett police have been off the highway I have not seen OHP or what you call a good shireff department.. I hope no one gets killed on that highway. and you all talk about the stories about Moffett there old stories those people are long gone but people like you drunks and drug people keep the stories going. GET OVER IT quit breaking the law....I hope Moffett gets it back because it keeps you law breakers at check.
